For the last 5 months, I’ve been working on Hazel, and I’m super excited to finally share a first open beta version: hazel.sh, try it out now! Fully open source as always of course github.com/HazelChat/hazel I started building Hazel because I’ve been super unhappy with work chat apps for quite some time. Slack feels lacking in a lot of areas, customization support feels limited, Discord is amazing but sadly feels way too unprofessional, and I don’t even want to talk about Teams… I knew it would be a fool’s task to try to build something to replace these tools, but I wanted to try anyway and quickly got obsessed. I kept grinding on it more and more, slowly chipping away at one thing after another, and I can finally say I’m happy enough to use Hazel over any of the other solutions for my day‑to‑day communication, it's far from perfect but in a state I would love to get some feedback to make this truly the best communication platform. I built Hazel from the ground up with @EffectTS_ , @ElectricSQL , and @tanstack db to not only make it really, really fun to develop, but also great to use and maintain. For now, some core features include: - Public / Private / DM channels - Threads & replies - Reactions & file uploads -A media explorer - A smart notification system …and much, much more. Hazel is far from done, but I hope I can inspire some of you to join me on this journey to do the impossible and build the Slack of the modern era.

I just tried Google Stitch and while it’s a really cool concept the output is really underwhelming. I asked it to make the supastarter landing page look better and more modern and it came up with the classic AI slop design

Maple now supports sampling out of the box and will calculate throughput, actually error rate etc. accordingly

I know I haven't been tweeting a lot about Hazel lately but I have been quietly cooking 👀 Currently redesigning some of the BotSDK with durable streams from the @ElectricSQL team to make it even easier and more reliable to build custom bots in Hazel Desktop App first stable release is coming very soon Mobile App is not far off And lastly the first stable 1.0 release of Hazel will be coming very very soon with a build in two way sync for all your Slack Channels and Users to make migrations super easy. So excited to finally ship all of it soon

i have not liked any desktop app so far, I'm so close of just building my own - OpenCode seems very bare bone and UI isn't really build to run multiple instances at the same time, aswell as has bugs like you mentioned - Codex Desktop has too much delay between switching chats/feels sluggiish, has a noticable input delay on everything for me - ClaudeCode Desktop is laggy af - T3Code is too bare bone for my liking and planning just feels worse - Conductor breaks for me 1/3 of the time - Superset is the only one I actually enjoyed using so far but still doesn't feel like it gives me a lot over just using a CLI

Saw this a while back, from looking at it back then it seemed more of a React Like JSX runtime so compatibility with the react ecosystem would be missing or am I wrong in my understanding here. Also not the biggest fan of the Effect Http Api like definition of routes, feel like it makes a lot of sense for an API definition but seems like unnecessary overhead for my frontend routing

Effect will become a full stack framework including functionality of next/tanstack/etc. Other frameworks are nice but they fail the test of AI and integration is poor. End to end type safety requires design from the ground up, and no end to end inference isn’t type safety.
