Seeing the crowd in this #CFMTL game, in May, which will be the end of the future winter season, makes it quite compelling to argue that #MLS in Canada, while struggling already, definitely won't survive the calendar change. #VWFC owner is just a few chess moves ahead of this.

Stadiums, while ideally funded privately by those that profit (when they profit) are also infrastructure to support broader economic development.

@ToonArmyChris79 @ijajt_ The Rise and TSS Rovers (men and women) play there. It's lopsided and doesn't contain the action the way a stadium would with fans on both sides but it's still good for a smaller crowd. U17 world cup was there - Luis Suaraz, Edinson Cavani and Gerard Pique.

@mallard2000 @ijajt_ I don't even live in Vancouver and have been to a Whitecaps game at Swangard. Remember it being a decent venue.

This would be a way better location for a permanent move than the Hastings proposal but the Vancouver elitists would try to tell you it's too far because they're scared to cross Boundary Rd.

@julians_world @sportscaddy @gregbradyx You should see FIFA's official explanations on high prices. 1 - the reflect the ticket pricing "culture" of the USA, the primary host. 2 - they priced them high so that ticket resellers have less room to resell above asking. Both point to American "ticket culture"

@mallard2000 @sportscaddy @gregbradyx Nothing to do with the states, fifa and the individual countries hosting base their tickets on what the specific province or state feels fits. Furthermore it makes no difference if there’s a resale market or not when the face value tickets are going for as high as 8 grand.

The first Canada match in Toronto is 4 weeks from Friday. I’m told at least 3500-4000 tickets are still unsold. Canada Soccer put tickets for all 3 Group matches in all 3 price categories on sale today. My friend sent me a screenshot after logging on to examine the prices. I get the once-in-lifetime value of this, I truly do - but there’s a been a clear combination of gouging, AND miscalculating the market. They’ve been unable to sell 45K tickets in Toronto/55K in VAN. Imagine if it was 70K+, like most of the NFL stadiums. The public will always set the price in the modern marketplace - not the other way around.

@julians_world @sportscaddy @gregbradyx I totally agree this is obscene but I think this is more of a USA issue bleeding into a shared WC where we are a small host. Ontario has done the right thing at least and banned resales above ticket price.

I shouldn’t be able to see a euro final at Wembley or champions league night at old trafford cheaper than seeing Canada & Bosnia at BMO. Sick joke

@GoalLineCtrl @StuckontheSofa Disagree based off the hundreds of live games I’ve seen across Europe and in MLS. It’s no longer friendly when fans stoop to that. Given the context of the whitecaps potential relocation, it’s even less friendly.

@GCM1979 Because people just don't know what they are missing. I lived in the UK for a few years and came back unable to watch the NHL anymore. Boring structure (84 games may mean nothing) and too isolated from other hockey. I love the CanChamp! Davids and Goliaths.

why isn't the #canchamp more popular in Canada? This is a game that should bring out fans on droves in all matches. I was out last night watching the game on my phone & no one had any idea what I was watching. The promotion of this competition needs to improve drastically.

@kbal_21 The Whitecaps, to their credit, didn't use food poisoning as an excuse for our final loss. But the fact is some of the players had food poisoning. Not saying it was intentional or sabotage, but just stating the facts. Another shared experience between the Crew and Caps!

@MLSMoves Do nothing at all. I don't care about how MLS compares to other leagues. It's fine as it is. I watch it because I can go to games in person and support the team I love not because it's the highest quality. Liga MX is a better league and I'm ok with it.

For the first time since 2021, no MLS team will be in the CCC final. Where is the accountability? We’re not only losing the final in embarrassing fashion the last couple year but now we’re not even making it. What an absolute joke. Leadership in MLS needs to be questioned. TAM was introduced in 2015 to help win this tournament and in 2026 we’ve only won it one time and now we’re not even making it to the final. Such a disgrace
