@CinemaTweets1 There are a lot of great lines in it that aren't said by Doc Holliday. My favourite line of the whole film is Curly Bill's "Watch it, Johnny... I hear he's real fast."

Kurt Russell spoke about Tombstone this week, saying “The movie is not as good as the screenplay….I’ll never make peace with that. It could have been way better.” I trust Russell knows what he’s talking about here…but man, I think Tombstone is pretty close to perfect as is.

@KhairoAetos @dmagillwrite @ThatMoviePage Exactly - the Outlaws are running a successful mafia operation in the territory, the Earps are in Tombstone to start a business but Curly Bill knows their lawmaking past will inevitably draw them back. And Ringo isn't bothered by mild insults, he's bothered by meeting his match.

Only Johnny Ringo is observably bothered by it. Ike Clanton is a shit kicker who only plays tough when he thinks he's got a posse to back him up. This scene also isn't the cause of all the trouble later. Arguably what does cause the trouble is Wyatt's and Doc's mere existence in Tombstone. They're perceived as legends and the Law wants desperately to have Wyatt and his brothers on their side so they can feel safe with the Cowboys running around. The criminals feel threatened both by Doc and Wyatt.

Palmerston, Diplocat extraordinaire, passed away peacefully on 12 February. “Palmy” was a special member of the Government House team in Bermuda, and a much loved family member. He was a wonderful companion, with a gentle nature, and will be sorely missed.

I remember where I was when I watched the final episode of Blackadder Goes Forth and how I sat stunned at the end. One of the best pieces of tragicomic writing ever, in any form; worth another look today of all days.

@thehistoryguy My pet theory is that it's not just about spies, it's a religious allegory tying in with Alec Guinness's Catholicism. There are some pretty blatant allusions to Control being God, Jim Prideaux being Jesus, [the mole] being Satan etc.

Downstairs neighbour is noisy and rude. Her bedroom is below our spare room. My Granfather Clock that chimes every quarter hour is going in there when I go on hols, should last a few days on a full wind.
