@agronomistag Thank you for this. Great points! Also important to remember that “soil health practices” like cover crops can impact levers directly (e.g. weeds) without impacting the soil health pathway necessarily.

Great that @USDA_ERS has a full session at #AAEA2022 presenting their data and how to access it. Btw, they also have proprietary datasets ($$$) that are accessible to external researchers through collaborations with ERS staff. Pretty neat.

@gleasonben The ARMS Phase II survey is jointly conducted with NASS and focuses on production practices and costs on a single field. Most are interviews conducted in person by @usda_nass @NASDAnews enumerators. It’s a big time investment for the farmers who participate!

@TerryDaynard I believe the MD program no longer pays for harvester cover crops. But you’re correct that at one point that was true in MD and that definitions in general can be fuzzy.
