AI can be a big boost (open source models on city owned hardware), to automate processes, analyze city data, comms generation, and aid code generation.

@TheCinesthetic It's important to notr that *the studio* reworked it against the directors wishes. Studios and executives often get flack for their meddling, but it seems they made the right call on this one. I'd pay a lot to see that original edit, though.

Nobody expected Galaxy Quest (1999) to be that clever or that funny. The original tone was darker and more violent, but it was reworked into a more comedic, PG-rated film after test screenings. It’s still one of the best sci-fi comedies ever made.

The millennial generation might be the last one that grew up with any knowledge of classical music. Even then, it was weird and rare, but it’s only become truly dire in the last 20 years or so. Piano sales have been in decline in the US for decades, something like 17,000 sold last year. it’s always blamed on the economy, but great used pianos have never been cheaper or more available. Classical music has never been more accessible. I think the deeper problem is we no longer know how to appreciate beauty.

California should be an advertisement for what Democrats can do with power. But for too long, it's been an advertisement for the opposition. Rising home prices in the state have contributed to several crisis: an affordability crisis, a homelessness crisis, and an exodus crisis, as the state’s population growth has sagged in recent years as families leave for cheaper states. @GavinNewsom has a huge opportunity to rewrite California's modern history by signing and implementing SB-79. It would announce a new era for housing, growth, and affordability in California. It would be a sign that Democrats can fix big problems and be courageous, even when many people—including those inside the coalition—fight to preserve the status quo. I hope he makes the right decision.

I disagree that this is a landmark bill. The reason no one builds in California isn’t NIMBYism. It’s price controls. Market rate housing is virtually illegal to build in California. That needs to be fixed. • Remove inclusionary zoning • Remoce rent control • Remove affordability requirements. SB79 does none of that.
