@davepl1968 This is the one game I bought with my Atari 800XL on cartridge when we got it. The box came with open slots you could use to set 2 joysticks to play it just like the arcade!

@IMAO_ Heh. No worries, I replaced a sprinkler head in my backyard this weekend. Much grass was touched! If you enjoy the movie, that's great!

I'm quite serious. Back in the Captain Marvel days, they changed the viewer reviews to only be allowed for verified people who bought tickets through fandango, for instance. So walk up ticketholders were locked out. I remember seeing this happen realtime, but some summary: reddit.com/r/marvelstudio…

@IMAO_ Rotten Tomatoes has been garbage for 10 years. They started gaming it back then, and note that the movie was made by the company that owns RT. Metacritic has the audience score at 5.1, which I trust far more than RT.

@markping Okay, that's weird. Going by RottenTomatoes audience score and the CinemaScore (and the people I trust on movie reviews), it's his most widely appealing movie he's ever made.

@Gregzywicki @IMAO_ Not just the casting, but the changing of the character of Odysseus and subversion of the story.

@IMAO_ Reviews I've seen from people who have seen it tell me I'd have zero interest (bad dialogue, bad adaptation, etc.) The IMAX tickets were sold out a year ago for the first weekend, but the premium for those tickets means that the # of tickets is lower than for prior Nolan films.

@markping What’s left to see? According to the people who actually saw it (and not those predisposed to hate it), it’s another great movie from Nolan and obviously successful. What are you waiting on?

@snitchin_bubs @IMAO_ Rise of Skywalker had worldwide $333M 1st weekend. What is the breakdown of domestic vs. rest of world?

Probably was a bad idea to bet all of conservatism on Christopher Nolan — a guy primarily known for making popular successful movies — to _not_ make a popular successful movie. Now woke is going to rule forever!

@BaronDestructo At least the upgraded ones that can do atmospheric. But it's a challenge of core tech as well. The Fury has a fusion reactor, the F302 has some sort of antigrav doesn't it?

@IMAO_ It's been heavily front loaded. I don't expect the non-Nolan fans to have weighed in yet. We'll see! I didn't expect it to bomb, but I also don't believe the aggregate reviews. I expect it to cap out before 650M but I'm hardly an industry expert.

@markping With an A CinemaScore, I’d be expecting a higher than average retain because of word of mouth.

(Pausing the thread for now because I have other commitments today, and also, I don't have the energy to do 60 more pages right now of the same BS we've seen from the antigun circuit courts. I imagine this will be similar to all of those opinions.)

For a while now, the antigun states and orgs have asserted that every circuit to deal with an "assault weapon" ban or magazine capacity limit has upheld such laws. We have pushed back on that, arguing that the only courts so far to hear those issues were in circuits traditionally hostile to the Second Amendment. Once a more fair court heard the issue, we would be vindicated. Today, we were proven right. The Third Circuit has struck down key parts of New Jersey's AWB and magazine laws. A HUGE victory that creates a circuit split on the AWB and mag ban issues, and functions as an excellent opening act ahead of SCOTUS hearing Viramontes and Grant in its upcoming term. A thread on the ruling!

@jackbutler4815 @WSJFreeEx ok but the Lion King "live action" remake made $1.6 billion. It made more money than the original animated classic! Why was that one a success and live action Moana is a failure?

Why is nobody seeing the live-action "Moana"? The contrast between the original "Lion King" and its remake offer clues. My latest in @WSJFreeEx:

@JiltedValkyrie Just met Bruce Boxleitner this weekend and when signing the cast photo he pointed to Jurasik and Katsulas and said simply "Shakespeare".

Honest question, do you guys watch the SpaceX webcast for Starship launches? Or do you watch it through a commentary stream like Everyday Astronaut or NSF? I'm debating on if I should livestream my Flight 13 reaction or upload an edited video of my reaction again.
