Serious questions now surround newly elected Green MSP Q Manivannan and their compliance with student visa regulations. Immigration rules must apply equally to everyone, including politicians, which is why I’ve written to the Home Secretary calling for an immediate investigation. But, they were only able to stand because of changes made by the SNP in the last parliament. The Conservatives spoke out against this rule change at the time, and our concerns were ignored.

The Scottish Conservatives had a difficult election, but our appetite for change in the Scottish Parliament is the same. As things stand, the Scottish Parliament does not serve the people of Scotland in the way that it should- and a lack of scrutiny, overbearing Government control of the parliamentary business, and servile Quangos and NGOs are all part of the problem. I will spend my time in Parliament making it a better place to make policy- prising total power out of the hands of the SNP/Greens.

In the middle of the election campaign Anas Sarwar had an extraordinary rant at newspaper journalists, most of whom were backing his campaign. Here it is.

If we sacked every MSP and put 10 successful business people who genuinely care about Scotland in charge for the next Parliament, EVERYONE in the country would be immeasurably better off AND we’d show Westminster and Wales what’s possible. A few suggestions for the 10: @Malcolm_Offord @SirTomHunter @MarieMacklin
Mark Simpson MSP 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿@RealMGSimpson

“Scotland has been very good to me. Scotland gave me everything and now it’s my turn. Now I feel I can make a contribution.” Loving this passion from @Malcolm_Offord a proud Scot from modest Greenock beginnings who built his success through hard work, determination, and Scottish values. He’s stepping up to help Scotland reach its true potential & lead @ReformUKScot into these crucial elections. Vote Reform UK on May 7th! 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I hate this by Swinney as if only nationalists want to advocate as hard as possible for Scotland. Let's look at motivation: @Malcolm_Offord has given up a seat in the Lords, oodles of cash and a life sailing the Caribbean to do his best by Scotland. Swinney just wants another term, treading water at Holyrood, dangling the carrot of Independence, while he continues - like so many of his colleagues - to be paid by the taxpayer. Who would you trust to fight for Scotland?
John Swinney@JohnSwinney

I love Scotland to my core and as your First Minister, I will make sure Scotland’s voice is always heard loud and clear. Busy few days on the campaign trail, and I look forward to meeting people every part of the country as we approach polling day next Thursday.

On Thursday, we have the chance to change Scotland. The SNP has had two decades. Reform is only interested in division. Give @ScottishLabour five years to prove this isn’t as good as it gets in Scotland.

@DrRJSimpson You have just exhibited the classic colonist behaviour despised of from the Unionists …. You just couldn’t recognise the key role our Scottish FM played in this …. Sticks in your throat that we might be better then those parasitic Westminster losers ….

It’s a pity Swinney and his many many SPADs couldnt have just welcomed the lifting of whisky tariffs as a demonstration of both Scottish and UK Labour governments pulling together. Why do the SNP have to always try to divide us with their one-up-man ship.

Delicious to see Labour’s man in Scotland working himself into a frenzy, not knowing that the President messaged John Swinney last night to congratulate him on his role in the deal - followed by a call today. The difference between a Scottish Leader and a Unionist follower.
Douglas Alexander@D_G_Alexander

John you’ve been caught red handed claiming credit for something you didn’t achieve. Now you’re doubling down. It’s embarrassing. I get it doesn’t fit your world view that the U.K. Govt was working for this whisky deal before, during & after your visit to DC but those are facts.
