@TheStalwart Hey Joe - if you ever want to chat about commercial aircraft financing let me know. 50% of aircraft are rented, largely from firms based in Ireland. Billions of $ per year. Aircraft also trade between lessors, and leases are often securitised.

This was one of those episodes where now everytime I read something about aviation going forward, I feel like I'll at least have some base to understand what I'm actually reading

Just reading back through the transcript, I learned a crazy amount about the aviation industry from our latest episode with @smkeyes. Here's a few things that stood out: 1) Why the Austin airport ran out of jet fuel earlier this year

@balajis It's leaked into, of all places, aircraft values. Bidding is out of control for leaseback deals w/ 'good' airlines due to (1) insane demand for yield; (2) shortage of supply due to production cuts: 150bps over swaps for this risk is ludicrous. ifre.com/story/2890042/…

One interpretation: the Cantillon effect has produced an inflationary tsunami. It began by bidding up equities, commodities, and cryptocurrencies. Now it’s real estate, where the seemingly advantaged sellers are getting bags of depreciating cash. Soon it may be consumer goods.

1 of 15: It has been hard to convey, through anecdotes or data, how bizarre the U.S. housing market has become. For example, a Bethesda, Maryland homebuyer working with @Redfin included in her written offer a pledge to name her first-born child after the seller. She lost.

U.S. airports are the busiest they've been since the pandemic began -- the strongest sign yet of a domestic travel revival that’s leading the way in jet fuel’s comeback trib.al/SmvqkWZ
