@MStrehovsky @BrandonLive If that developer buys a commercial certificate you have the exact same issue. I agree that this is not an improvement over unsigned apps. But other advantages of MSIX (identity, clean uninstall, delta updates, etc) remain.

Spent an hour reading about and trying to make an MSIX installer. Will self signed installers really not install without first installing the cert? I expected a scary dialog with an "install anyway" option. Did I just waste my time? Is MSIX useless for people without $$$?

@thebookisclosed Seems like a good call, considering that switching mode is very inconsistent, takes long and makes the platform look terrible.

@WithinRafael I am somewhat confused what is going on here, I think the Store app might be recognizing/updating the sideloaded Outlook MSIX package. This new updater is call XPD and it interacts with a component called Sentinel (which could be Microsoft Sentinel, or something else).

@WithinRafael any idea how the squirrel updater of the new Outlook managed to update to a Store bought MSIX packaged installation? I kind of thought that was impossible?

@WordPress Is the 2022 theme broken for more people? (Not including global styles on front end)

@WithinRafael @TheRealCre8trix Looks like it is working now with Win11 22621.755. I don't see any visible changes, that might explain why it is deemed safe now and no long an urgent security threat.

@ALumia_Italia Microsoft getting into the crapware market 😔, leave no ad placement opportunity unturned, huh? I wonder if it comes with a 30 day free trial of McAfee 🥺

@stroughtonsmith One of the intriguing parts of the path WinAppSDK chose is that it is all native code. For now with C#, C++ and semi-official Rust support. And other Frameworks start to build on top of that like React Native and MAUI. (Swift: ericsink.com/entries/swift_…)

@WithinRafael All existing Widgets use a different method/sdk, right? Is more known about what they are doing?

@WithinRafael Oh, I am probably wrong. They have silently updated, their silent update from a couple months ago 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

@WithinRafael I think they are only talking about enterprise uses there, last time i looked, they required some group policy to be set.

@sdw Do you expect these animations to be the result of clever animation by hand? Or do they have some sort of physics based renderer?

Even non-tech-y people see the Dynamic Island UI and are wowed. Why? Objects are behaving with an impeccable sense of physicality. Scrolling on iPhone 1 was magic because it felt like touching a real surface with your finger. This is like playing with liquid. Incredible work.

Intensely in love with the bouncy, blobby, liquid UI animation and style on iPhone 14 Pro and Apple Watch Ultra. The era of blob-o-morphism is upon us
