@politicalmath A lot of people will say that there haven't been many good adaptations of King. Kubrick did it better than the book. Also, a number of King's books are kind of crap and their inability to translate to film is a limitation of the source material.

@ASBaird On my last readthrough of Genesis, I got so grossed out by this and several other accounts that I feel queasy when someone mentions the book

Me realizing that I'm supposed to teach Genesis 38 (ejaculating on the ground! Pretending to be a prostitute in order to sleep with your father in law! Sleeping with your daughter in law who you believe is a prostitute! Threatening to burn your daughter in law until you realize that her illegitimate child is yours!) to a bunch of teenagers this Sunday. Maybe I'll just show them Game of Thrones instead. Can't be harder to explain.

@shakamitchell It’s a dark comedy. I found it interesting and funny, but not profound.

I don’t mean to be contrarian, but I finished watching One Battle After Another and I don’t understand what all the hype is about. There were definitely moments of cinematic excellence (like driving over the hills), but in general, this is a movie about serious topics, but it doesn’t even attempt to offer a profound moral conclusion. @ClintFiore @netflix I miss tv edits of movies. If they’re still made, I wish streamers would provide them as an option.

There are so many amazing shows on streaming services you can't watch with your kids unnecessarily. Why can't they let us mute the F word for example? All the sports documentaries on @netflix like F1, Break Point, Full Swing, Quarterback, etc. are amazing and perfect for watching as a family except for the massive amounts of F-bombs. Seems like the easiest thing to 10X the amount of content you can watch with your kids together. Do streaming executives just not have kids? Do they not care about families? I don't get why quality, generally tame, non-violent, non-sexual shows have to be rendered unwatchable by families because of the simplest-to-fix things. And no I shouldn't have to get VidAngel as well and add another subscription and friction and complexity to this simple to fix problem by the big streamers if they simply would care a little.

Today, McDonald's releases a deluxe burger called the "Big Arch" - is it a subtle nod to the ARCH DELUXE? Probably not, but I'd still like to think of it that way.

@McFranchisee @consumertc My wife surprised me tonight when I was explaining the viral CEO video. She remembered the Arch Deluxe and asked if it was the same thing. That 90s marketing must have reached us on a deep level

The $MCD Big Arch came early to CT, tastes like the Big Smasher from $EAT, reads like a Whopper from $QSR, this sandwich has me a bit emotional. Seatbelt laws are un-American. A law requiring you to wear a seatbelt infringes on individual liberty. It's not the state's job to protect you from yourself. That's not the proper role of government in a free society.
