Kara Ford, daughter of Doug Ford, took home $130k in 2022 managing public affairs at Runnymede Hospital with a two-year diploma in broadcast television. #Onted workers should feel free to share this information with anti-teacher trolls all up in their mentions.

Three years ago, #onted principals earned approximately 22% more than an A4 teacher. Last year, the spread dramatically increased to 40%. It seems to me that #etfo #osstf #oecta and #aefo have some serious bargaining to do.

A Gaeltacht is an official district recognized by the Irish government as a place where the Irish language is predominant. The only Gaeltacht outside of Ireland is located in Tamworth, Ontario. This is the story. 🧵 1/4

March 26 is #ScienceAppreciationDay. But for science you probably wouldn’t have reached your latest birthday. Talking of birthdays, March 26 is my 85th. Science saves lives. It’s also humanity’s best shot at universal understanding: one of the things that makes life worth saving.

Who gets in the most trouble? The student who constantly skips class and school? The parent who raised the child who constantly skips class or school? Or the teacher who does not personally call the parent every time and document it in two different ways when the child skips?

#BREAKING: 73% of Ontarians say Doug Ford should not be allowed to change the law retroactively to bury his phone records. 64% say this is about avoiding accountability. 53% of his own PC voters say their MPPs should vote against it. Will Doug Ford listen to Ontarians and release his phone records? ReleaseDougsTexts.ca

On Friday, @PaulCalandra sent a condescending letter to 160K+ Ontario teachers — blaming them for an issue he could only cite three examples of. Instead of helping teachers help students, this minister scolded them. Out of touch. Out of line. Just like this government. #onpoli

Elementary Educators
Elementary Educators@ETFOeducators·
The minister’s speech was “received with absolute shock and a deep sense of disappointment in the apparent disconnect that was evident between the minister's vision and perspective of who our members are and who their union representatives are and who the government is,” said @ETFOpresident David Mastin, who added that the “arbitrary assessment of 5% of our membership (not working in the best interests of students) is deeply, deeply offensive.” “#ETFO members work extremely hard in a system that is underfunded, that is understaffed, that is under-respected by this government, and they're doing everything they can to keep delivering for students in their care.” “I am a teacher who has been elected to carry the voice of elementary teachers from around this province … we're elected to these positions, we shouldn't be referred to as stumbling blocks.” Unions need to be consulted and engaged with when trying to better the system for #onted students. #onpoli

Doug Ford can no longer be allowed to act like a bully without being challenged. He closed the Science Centre under false pretenses, destroyed Ontario Place and made a secret deal with a private spa company, he’s grabbing land at Exhibition Place and is now stealing the City of Toronto’s lands at Billy Bishop Airport (and ripping up a partnership agreement). Ford is cutting out Toronto residents, on either side of the debates, from being part of the future of their own waterfront- and their own city. Enough is enough, it’s time to fight back. I’m asking city council this week to take every legal option available to take a stand for local democracy and the residents of Toronto.

I’m all for non library workers advocating for libraries, even if they don’t have all the current information. Partly because libraries and literacy hold society together and partly because everyone gets a chance to yell at the “no one uses libraries anymore” fucko buckos.

Something that American sports can take from European sports- There are sections of the stadium specifically for supporters of the home and visiting team. If you have a shirt from team A, you don't sit with fans of team B.

The USS Indianapolis monologue in Jaws (1975) is chilling every single time. Robert Shaw delivers it like a man remembering something he can’t ever escape, and the whole film goes dead quiet around him. One of the greatest speeches ever put on screen.

@edgarrmcgregor Heard a climate scientist say the best reason to NOT extract the Alberta tar sands is to keep them accessible to prevent a future ice age. If a true ice age occurred, simply light up the tar sands to add greenhouse gases and save humanity.
