🍪 Thin Mints have beat out Samoas this year as the best-selling Girl Scout Cookie in the NYC area. It’s the first time Thin Mints have dethroned Samoas, which are the longtime champ.
The two cookies are often cited as fan favorites in the Girl Scouts’ lineup of around a dozen cookies.
Thin Mints are a “crisp, chocolate cookies dipped in a delicious mint chocolaty coating,” while Samoas are “crisp cookies with caramel, coconut, and chocolaty stripes.”
The third place cookie in NYC was Tagalongs, described as “crispy cookies layered with peanut butter and covered with a chocolaty coating.”
The Girl Scouts of Greater New York have sold over 900,000 boxes this season, and CEO Shari Krull said they hope to sell 200,000 more by Sunday, March 29, the final day to purchase Girl Scout Cookies this season.
The sales “would send 100 girls to sleepaway camp,” Krull said. “These girls are coming from low to moderate income families, and it really can make a tremendous difference in their lives.”
Those looking to avoid extra calories can still donate Girl Scout Cookies to pantries through the Scouts’ partnership with City Harvest. Over 55,000 boxes have been donated this year via the program.
