Never seen a Ramadan like this before. Maryam Nawaz Sharif, is monitoring prices and quality, delivering essentials to doorsteps within 30–40 minutes, supporting families through the “CM Punjab Nigehban Card,” and organizing iftar arrangements across cities.

The way Maryam Nawaz has made each hospital an extremely unsafe working space for doctors, is a disaster waiting to happen. The responsibility will lie entirely upon her for turning hostile public against doctors through her policies and speeches. Punjab healthcare is a shithole.

This is how you are rebutting? There are heartbreaking reports that Imran Khan may have lost up to 85% of the vision in one eye — reduced to seeing nothing but faint light. And what is the response from those in power? Not medical reports. Not transparency. Not compassion. Instead, we are shown a jail menu by the information Minister @TararAttaullah proudly mentioning “desi chicken.” Is this what the situation has been reduced to? A debate over food while a former Prime Minister may be losing his eyesight? This is the height of insensitivity, illiteracy and shamefulness. While Indian spies like Kalbushan Yadev and Indian Prisoner of war like Abhinandan receive the humanly treatments in this country, the former Prime minister, the former cricket captain and a great philanthropist receives blindness? This is the same man who lifted the World Cup for Pakistan when the nation had lost hope. The same man who built Shaukat Khanum Hospital so that poor cancer patients could receive dignity in their darkest hours. The same man who awakened political awareness among millions of young Pakistanis who once felt voiceless. In return for giving Pakistan a cricket legacy, he gets uncertainty about his eyesight. In return for building a hospital that saved thousands of lives, he is denied proper medical access. In return for giving political consciousness to a generation, he is given isolation and silence. He kept on complaining about blurred vision in eye for three months, and his complaints were ignored. Last week, he was transferred to PIMS in the dark of night to get an intra-ocular injection, and the Government officials initially kept on denying about it. This is not ill treatment to Imran Khan. This is ill treatment to whole Pakistan. His family is not allowed to visit him. His doctors are not permitted to examine him. His lawyers are not allowed to consult him. His party is not allowed to discuss with him. This is a passive killing. This is filthy, cruel, inhuman and fascist, and there is no one but the Pakistani military establishment, the Pakistani Judiciary, the current regime and current media who should be held responsible for this. Man who gave eyes to this nation did not deserve a blind eye at least. We are doomed as a nation! It is not juts one blind eye. It is a blind day in the history of Pakistan. -------------------------------------------------------

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗼𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻: Let this sink in. PMDC has fixed the annual fee of private medical and dental colleges at PKR 1.89 million, which means nearly PKR 1 crore for five years, and even more once you add hostel fees, books, transport, and other expenses. Now compare that with the pathetically low pay young doctors are getting. ✅ Back in 2013, private medical college fees were around PKR 0.3–0.5 million per year. At that time, 1 USD was PKR 101, and private hospitals were paying Medical Officers around PKR 40,000 per month. Fast forward to 2026: 🔷 Private medical college fee: PKR 1.89 million per year 💲💵 Dollar rate: PKR 288 🔷 Medical Officer salary: PKR 30,000–50,000 per month Let that register. Fees have skyrocketed under the excuse of inflation, but salaries have gone backwards. Private hospitals are shamelessly exploiting young doctors, paying them less than what was paid in 2013, despite massive inflation and currency devaluation. Everyone knows this is happening. No one wants to act. Why doesn’t PMDC fix the minimum salary of Medical Officers at least at PKR 100,000 per month? They absolutely can. They simply don’t want to. Allegedly, many of these private hospitals are owned by influential individuals. Then the same people cry about brain drain and ask why doctors are leaving the country. The hypocrisy is staggering.

Using essential mobile apps, PDF references books and AI improves healthcare. Even the IT sector now relies on AI to write basic software code. Understanding this requires an open, updated mindset that keeps pace with how the world is actually evolving.

@ranjha001 Smartphones are a relatively recent phenomenon, doctors hv been practicing medicine for decades without them. Clinical competence, patient care, & decision-making were never dependent on mobile phones. So, portraying smartphones as indispensable to medical practice is misleading

Did you even consider speaking with some doctors before churning out populist directives? A mobile phone is necessary to communicate in hospitals and multiple medical Apps help make decisions fast and safe. Don't create unnecessary nuisance for a few brownie points.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif@MaryamNSharif

Doctors and staff at all public sector hospitals across Punjab, have been strictly instructed not to use mobile phones or personal devices during duty hours. Patient care must take absolute priority, and patients’ time must not be squandered. My Inspection teams are conducting surprise visits round the clock to the hospitals to ensure full compliance. Strict disciplinary action will be taken against any violations.

The most hilarious thing about 'ban on mobile phone for doctors' is that Rawalpindi's largest tertiary care hospital does not provide radiology films to patients and doctors are asked to get it on phones via whatsapp. These bureaucrates have zero link to ground reality 😭

𝗡𝗼 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗼𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝘂𝗻𝗷𝗮𝗯: Punjab government has imposed a blanket ban on mobile phone use for doctors and nurses while on duty. While excessive and nonessential phone use at work is certainly inappropriate, an outright ban is misguided While the Punjab Government’s intent to improve workplace focus is noted, the recent ban on mobile devices for healthcare staff is a counter-productive step in modern medicine. In the current clinical landscape, smartphones are not distractions; they are indispensable medical tools used for real-time dosage calculations, cross-referencing drug interactions, and accessing life-saving diagnostic data. Furthermore, these devices serve as the primary infrastructure for inter-departmental coordination and emergency transport. Restricting their use creates a dangerous communication vacuum. Given the lack of scientific evidence suggesting that a device ban improves healthcare outcomes, I urge the Honorable Chief Minister to reverse this directive in favor of a policy that regulates usage without compromising patient care.

Doctors don’t use phones for entertainment on duty. We use them to call seniors, coordinate with ICU/Emergency, and make urgent treatment decisions. If mobiles are banned, what’s the alternative for real-time clinical communication? Poorly thought policies harm patient care, not improve it.
