@zestycheeto @avant_arte You’re missing the point. Sure, we’ve all seen project allocations — and they were clearly stated as such. @avant_arte can do whatever they want with their mechanics. But what they can’t do is misrepresent what those mechanics are.
English

I think it’s a cop-out to say people will complain no matter what. All people wanted here is basic transparency. Raffle 2, raffle 1, raffle 0, doesn’t matter. Just please be honest about what exactly is going on. That simply didn’t happen here and the inevitable ill-will resulting from lack of transparency should have been extraordinarily obvious.
English

There seems to be some controversy on the recent Warothy drop from @lphaCentauriKid and @avant_arte. If I may chime in with my unsophisticated, simplistic take.
Artists can choose to sell to only a small select group of people which would guarantee sales/revenue. The downside is the collector base is small, is difficult to grow, and makes it slower for art to proliferate.
On the other end of the spectrum, artists can choose to sell to completely random people (ie via a raffle), but as we've seen over the last two years, this mechanism incentivizes speculation, scams, botting, and beautiful art ends up in the hands of flippers, creates market volatility, and often times indirectly reflects poorly on the artist.
My observation is that the Warothy drop is a thoughtful and balanced way to get ACK's art into the hands of reputable custodians who will cherish and hold onto the piece, and at the same offer some random and fair mechanism to increase the reach of his artistry into the hands of new/more collectors.
Collectors curate artists that they collect, why can't artists curate collectors they sell to?
When you have hundreds or thousands of people fight for a limited number of allocation, a large majority of people are going to be disappointed. With that said, valid concern has been raised about the transparency of the process, and the AA team has acknowledged this, and have committed to more clarity moving forward. I could imagine a future release where the edition size (ie 30), reserved allocation (ie 10) and public raffle (ie 20) would be disclosed.
The irony is, despite all these measures, one thing will remain constant.....people will still find a way to complain =) So my recommendation to artists and platforms is this....YOUR ART YOUR RULES.

Imagine how much it would cost to hire LeBron James to write content for your website. Imagine miraculously getting him to do it for free. Imagine then driving him away from your website so you can fail to collect $96 from him annually

@mooncat2878 @DesLucrece Thank you MoonCat!
Also: when I first saw this reply, I was like, who is this person impersonating MoonCat? And then I realized it's YOU with your new PFP! Going to take a minute to get used to that.
Also: I'd love to get a collector/investor interview with you on the books...
