The Defence Readiness Bill… isn’t ready. Shock. Due to be ready in “early-2026” it now won’t be ready until mid-2027 at the earliest and won’t be scheduled in the King’s Speech later this month. Cue the inevitable response that the MOD is working “flat out™” and “at pace™” This was Recommendation 28 of the Strategic Defence Review. Labour pledged to deliver all 62 but these are now slipping to the right and missing their delivery dates. Coupled with the nine-month delay to the Defence Investment Plan it illustrates that despite talking a good game on defence this Government is simply not delivering; Industry is paralysed, our armed forces are simultaneously underprepared and overstretched in readiness for current threats and we’re now in the bottom-third of NATO for defence spending. By the time this Government has finished we are in danger of being left militarily irrelevant.

Fascinating letter in @Telegraph from Airey Neave’s family today.
Perhaps this lead to what the Government must surely have been hoping to avoid, a case of unintended consequences? Let’s hope so. The government’s dreadful, vindictive, one-sided, terrorist rewarding, victim blaming and history-rewriting bill may actually come back to bite them if it allows, thorough the courts, for Neave’s killers and many other murderers like them to finally face justice. @williams_rje

Had my mother been alive today- she would have loved to have seen this.
As a sikh immigrant to this country- she was acutely aware of showing utmost respect. She loved the story of Jesus and would always watch Jesus movies at Easter and weep at how much he suffered on the cross.

This is absolute nonsense. A biological man identifying as a woman never had the right to occupy women's spaces. Therefore, there has been no "attack" on those rights to do so, because they never existed to begin with.
We ARE reduced to our biology - we are male or female and always will be. Anything else is a genetic anomaly or a condition of mind that creates an incongruence with the body.
We all need to start facing facts and reality and stop pretending some people are something they're not.

When Nick Timothy posted a critical comment on X about the recent public Muslim prayer in Trafalgar Square, which included the participation of London’s mayor Sadiq Khan, opinion split quickly.
Many thanked him for articulating what they felt others were unwilling to say, while others responded with sharp criticism.
In Britain, we fiercely protect freedom of religion, and any criticism of someone else’s faith can easily be smeared as discrimination or inequality.
It’s not in our nature to do so. But Nick Timothy did not do that. He represented a widely held concern that many ordinary citizens have, and went some was to explaining why they have it.
