But on second thought, maybe it's not ignorance. Maybe it's a conscious, wilful, deliberate stance. And I'm not even going to suggest "well maybe he's just an antisemite." Maybe that's the case, but it's also possible he's become a victim of the Qatari-backed anti-Israeli campaign after 7 October, which infiltrated university campuses around the world and many other institutions. You would think Ryan wouldn't be susceptible to something like that, but maybe he was. I remember seeing a clip from one of his episodes where, just like in the clip below, he's sat there, high and mighty in his stupid chair, fake rage boiling within him while talking about children being killed in Gaza. It's like he's completely erased his own experiences of civilian casualties, including children, during his deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan. And in some cases, as is the horrendous reality of war, the fault lay with the U.S. The tone, the posturing, the self-righteous anger. It all screamed performative outrage. The overly pretentious setup of his podcast and his, in my opinion, false calm, "mysterious" demeanour was always going to mean one of two things. Either you're looking at someone who is indeed an intelligent, complex character, or, more often than not, someone who is a lot more transparent than they appear to be...
