@JohannKurtz I agree with most of this analysis. What’s missing is some blame for why things have changed so much. Super liberal politicians have made most cities uninhabitable via bad policies. We may all yearn for life like it was in 1955 yet that’s called racist and sexist by the left.

@GOP__Ls As SOON AS we get a Democrat president again, we MUST pass a law or amendment that will strip the President of the ability to pardon anyone in or from his administration, both political parties and their donors, his family, and those who committed crimes in his name!

🚨 Trump donor Adam Kidan went to prison after stealing tens of millions from investors. Trump just pardoned him, allowing him to keep $21.7 million in stolen funds.

@glcst @Cernovich How is it enforced? What if you just refuse to pay? How do they squeeze it out of you?

I paid the Canadian exit tax last year to come to America. It is not good and extremely punitive. I had to sell all my liquid assets to pay the taxes on unsellable illiquid assets. There is no good way to defer this in practice. If in a liquidity event they sell for less than the FMV I paid taxes on, I get none of it back. I crossed the border with $0 and I am one of the lucky ones: some are just unable to leave as their tax bill would be higher than their ability to pay. I did not give up my Canadian citizenship and the tax would accrue even if I was leaving temporarily for some years.

@vesperdigital @GadSaad @grok If you give up Canadian citizenship, how can their laws follow you if you're no longer a Canadian citizen? I suspect this legal argument has already been tried (and probably failed) so my next question is: How do they enforce it? Can a foreign government garnish American wages?

Following a very difficult meeting with my accountant, I just found out how much it is going to cost me in terms of an "exit tax" to leave Quebec and Canada. No human being in a free society should have their hard-earned money stolen in this manner. I'm genuinely numb. I'm speechless.

@kangminlee It didn't used to be like this. My father was born in 1939. His parents purposely did NOT teach him Italian so he would assimilate faster. All the men his father's age proudly served in WWII. The 2nd generation in his family was VERY intent on being American!

I think it takes at least three generations for someone to be considered fully American. The first generation remains tied to their homeland in language and culture. The second still carries much of that influence through their immigrant parents. Only by the third generation do those ties loosen enough for genuine assimilation to occur. Assimilation cannot happen overnight. A nation is not a blank legal territory where anyone can instantly belong. America should remain distinctly American, and that requires time, generations, and the expectation that newcomers adopt its culture rather than remake it.

@RepLuna I’m a fan of yours @RepLuna but this is a bad take. The soldier is wrong AND politicians who trade on inside info are wrong. It’s not an either/or scenario.

Maybe not a popular take but I am calling for this guy to be pardoned. Unless the DOJ plans on going after all the crooks in congress currently insider trading, this is simply skewed justice. There is no “justice” when guys like this get the book thrown at him yet members are illegally profiting every day. I don’t agree with what he did and he should be required to disgorge all the profits however, unless the DOJ plans on doing Congress next, this is not justice.
BNO News@BNONews

DOJ releases more information about the U.S. soldier who won more than $400,000 by betting on Maduro's removal. Gannon Ken van Dyke could face up to 60 years in prison on all charges. Prosecutors are also seizing the money he won.

@KeenanPeachy I posted exactly this on Daily Wire. Ro Khanna can beat the S&P by over 110% and no one bats on eye. This guy, while what he did was wrong, is a drop in the fraud ocean. Justice comes down hard on the little man, but never a politician stealing 10's of millions. I'm sick of it.

How out of control is our govt spending? Individual income taxes + corp income taxes will be about $3 trillion in 2026. We will spend $1.3 trillion in interest payments on the $39 trillion national debt. 43% of all income taxes ... goes to interest payments on the debt. The other big pieces of the govt revenue is collecting social security taxes, which just pass through to social security recipients. Within the next few years we will reach the point where interest on the national debt is consuming 50% of all individual and corporate income taxes collected. And our annual budget deficits at $2 trillion to $3 trillion per year and making the problem worse. If the debt grows faster than the US economy, then eventually the interest payments consume all of the tax revenue. We are entering a debt doom loop, where we have to borrow more and more just to pay for government to function.

@MattWalshBlog Flying used to be luxurious because it was literally a luxury. (Regular people couldn't afford it.) You can still get that experience now if you fly private. (No lines, no crowds, plush surroundings...) But can you afford it?

Flight delayed on tarmac. Missed our connection. Based on the other flights available, which were also delayed, and the fact that taking a flight tomorrow would require getting back into a security line stretching seemingly for miles, we decided to get a car and drive five hours to our destination. That’s how bad air travel is right now. Driving is faster. Air travel is awful in this country. People don’t realize just how much it sucks unless they have to do it a lot. It’s not just TSA. Flight delays. Air traffic control issues. Service is even worse than usual. Every airport is crowded and slow and worn down and dirty. Everyone brings their dogs. The term “service animal” doesn’t mean anything anymore. Air travel used to be luxurious. People used to wear suits. Working for an airline was prestigious. The employees took it seriously. It sucks now. It’s terrible. This is the kind of thing our leaders should be fixing. Because the most frustrating thing is that it is so eminently fixable. If only anyone bothered to try.

@Whynot1918 @TimothyJones92 We had a few ex-military in my fraternity and they said it was very similar to boot camp. And I was a varsity athlete in college. We had several rites of passage. Nothing too terrible, but it wasn’t optional. Don’t really care if you don’t believe me. I lived it.

@Whynot1918 @TimothyJones92 Just like the military, they break you down in order to build you up. The shared experience of doing something very difficult bonds you to your brothers forever. Sports teams often have initiation rituals for the same reason. Anyone making negative comments wasn’t a member.

@Discover I've had my current cell phone number for 20+ years. I understand your point, but it doesn't apply in this case. (And even if true, if I want a number removed from my profile I should be able to do that. Why force me to keep a non-working number associated with my profile?)

@mike_faro_ Hi Mike, I hear you frustrations. If there is a phone number that was related to your account in the past, it may be used as an option to verify identity since fraudsters attempt to use newly changed phone numbers and email addresses. *Tilly
