@railLKB I like the larger scale rail symbol on the liveries, but be careful about the number of different scales your introducing. The IET and FLIRT liveries should probably find a happy medium ☺️

@djjmilner It seems that local authorises have a strong disincentive to creating new streets and structure within large development sites, when they can have the developer to build and maintain the infrastructure. Which is such a shame because the best public realm is actually ‘public’

@djjmilner In most of those places (can’t speak to all) what makes a lower tier government (province, state, canton) is well defined and trusted. Whereas UK local Authorities are all unique and special beasts with an incoherent and varying set of powers and duties

Tram systems in the UK and Ireland are pretty much the only countries where tram systems need central government approval to operate France, Germany, Netherlands, Australia, US, Canada, Spain, Sweden, Austria, Canada, Finland, Poland, Czech Republic & Switzerland do it locally

100% this - flexible working is great but my mental health is markedly worse with my team being WFH leaning/centric. The individual benefits of not commuting are clear but it’s so hard to measure what we loose

And I do think loneliness is responsible for more of the poor public mood than we give credit for - particularly among the young, and it's impact goes beyond individual mental health. So there is probably a social good from in person working beyond debates about productivity.
