Our hearts are broken. On this Easter Sunday, a wife, kids and grandkids are mourning the loss of this man. Per his agency: Deputy Michael Jimerson, 61, husband, father, grandfather, was shot and killed in the line of duty this week on disturbance call in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Deputy Jimerson and other Jackson County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to an apartment complex around 11 p.m. Wednesday. One of the subjects fled, then pulled out a gun and fired as Jimerson pursued. Jimerson returned fire, and in the exchange of gunfire, both were struck. Deputy Jimerson was transported to Ocean Springs Hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds. The suspect died at the scene. Deputy Jimerson had served with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office for 16 years. Survivors include his wife, two children, and grandchildren. His son is a police officer at a nearby police department. “Since I’ve been here, I’ve never gotten a single complaint about him,” Jackson County Sheriff John Ledbetter told the Sun Herald. “He had a positive impact on everybody he met. The community loved him. Everybody at the Sheriff’s Department who worked with him loved him.” By day, Jimerson worked full-time for Sparklight Internet and Mobile, then spent his evenings patrolling the streets of Jackson County. “He would go to work all day at Sparklight, go home and change, and then go to work for the Sheriff’s Department,” Sheriff Ledbetter said. “Everybody just loved him.” Michael Jimerson. SEXUAL ASSAULT: On March 19, A female victim was groped by a man on a bicycle. The suspect followed the victim from Stone House Ground to Bear Creek K-8 School. The suspect fled after the incident. Later on, the suspect was seen exposing himself to two additional victims near Wadsworth. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male with a medium build, black hair, wearing a hat, a white sweatshirt with a large dark pattern, and dark jeans. Colorado is one of the top 5 states for sexual abuse.

Juvenile Arrested for Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon on School Grounds - Chatfield High School Teacher Targeted - A 16-year-old Chatfield High School student was arrested on March 31, 2026, after deputies learned that they planned to kill a teacher at the school. Investigators say the student took a 7-inch butcher knife from their kitchen that morning, concealed it in a backpack and took it to school. In the early morning, the student attended the targeted teacher’s class with the concealed knife inside of the backpack. The student did not act on the plan and instead went to the school office with the backpack, asked to speak with a counselor, and disclosed what they had intended to do. The knife was confiscated and the School Resource Officer assigned to the school was notified. The student was arrested and booked into the Marvin W. Foote Youth Services Center for unlawful carrying of a weapon on school grounds—although additional charges may be filed. The suspect’s first court appearance is later today.

Every so often, a bit of news comes along to brighten everyone’s day. Not one, but two convicted child predators were found dead in their cells in the early morning hours of October 22 at Elmira Correctional Facility in NY. The first man found dead, Robert Fisher, 34, was less than a month into his 20-to-life sentence for drugging, raping, and murdering 3 year old Josefina Cunningham. The second, 51 yr old William Brand, was serving a ten year sentence for sexually abusing a child under the age of 11, after an investigation that unearthed allegations from multiple victims. While neither man’s cause of death has been revealed, the release of a heavily-redacted incident report on the discovery of Fisher’s body, as well as the fact that both of the deceased were child predators strongly suggests that both men ended up facing prison justice, which doesn’t bother with an appeals process. On Dec 26, 2025 A store robbery happened at Fascinations on W.64th Ave. Involving 2 Women, Juliet Contreras and Juliann Velarde. One suspect struck an employee with hangers and the other pushed past her, after that both fled the scene with unpaid items. Investigators identified the suspects using CCTV, facial recognition, and tips from the community. Contreras was already in custody; Velarde was arrested March 25, 2026. Colorado is ranked 7th highest in the country for retail theft.
