Congratulations, Virginia! Republicans are trying to tilt the midterm elections in their favor, but they haven’t done it yet. Thanks for showing us what it looks like to stand up for our democracy and fight back.

I've been watching people weigh in on this in my timeline, so I figured I'd add in. Why not. I'll add to the list of ::checks notes:: finance professionals, VCs, politicians, bitcoiners, and other non-scientific folks sharing their thoughts on sports/gender organization. Female sports need to be strongly protected. But notably, Imane was assigned female at birth in the conservative country of Algeria (presumably due to external characteristics as most assignments are)- and thus is an intersex person, rather than trans (i.e. someone who transitions later) as many people incorrectly portray her as based on the facts at hand. In other words, there are people with XY chromosomes born with vaginas but that have several male characteristics among their other female characteristics, leading to complexity. And there are others born with XY chromosomes and vaginas that have almost entirely female characteristics (e.g. complete androgen insensitivity syndrome). And there are those who have XXY chromosomes. And other form factors. Back in the 1960s, there was a female Olympian who failed a gender test... but then she later gave birth. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ewa_K%C5%… There are all sorts of configurations. It's more complex than most of us care to realize. We like to take life's complexity and categorize it into two groups, but it's harder than that sometimes. And, when authorities look for those edge-cases, how many times have we actually had our sex tested? In high school, was your blood tested? Did you get a genital check to participate in sports? Either/or? Your birth doctor assigned you, but did you let your sports authority double-check your blood and between your legs? Most of us don't think of this, but it becomes relevant for the 1% of complicated situations where it's less clear. And since clarity is subjective, many non-trans or non-intersex people can become involved in the testing. Checking between the legs and checking the blood. So whatever we mandate on them, we potentially mandate on ourselves if we want to really push these details. Vag or ball checks, plus blood checks, for sports at a given level. If we go the sub-college level, then basically we're mandating vag or ball checks on minors, and blood tests. Do we want to mandate that on the federal level, or let individual sports organizations and high schools sort out how they want to handle enrollment categorization? At the elite level, which is more voluntary, then surely we must have more checks. The question is, which checks? There have already been a lot of checks there, going back decades to my prior example of the disqualified woman who later gave birth. In a normal environment, this should spark calm professional debates about what tests should be done for elite sports to ensure it is fair, as it frequently has in the past with less public fanfare. That 1% difference matters when it comes to elite female sports. In other words, that intersex aspect is not new. There are people born female, were assigned female, and who have always thought of themselves as women, but have certain complicated semi-male characteristics which matter in sports. It accelerated recently as testing improved and as culture wars went in a certain direction and got kind of weird. As mentioned previously, there were Olympians, decades ago, for which the authority had trouble determining the conclusion. But they didn't make national news. There is no single gender test. Biological sex is more complicated than memes can confirm. Testing gender involves multiple tests and a definition. For the 1% of edge cases, there is some gray area, which is where a series of limits needs to be affirmed, based on the scientific input to a sports board, for any given governing body of a sports authority. So personally, I would advocate for conservative standards for female sports, based on a series of tests. Participants should be as much female as possible below a certain bar, in other words. But that bar is hard to define. That's perhaps more conservative than what was allowable in the 2024 Olympics, although I'd leave the details to people more involved than myself and let them explain the rationale, as per science. However, the culture war attacks on Imane *as an individual*, or on the broader space of gender/sexual complexity (about 1% of the 8 billion population or 80 million people, for which several of course come up more frequently in competitive female sports) are cruel, ignorant, and damaging. But most importantly, they're often just inaccurate, like Trump publicly describing Imane as a trans person who transitioned, when really she was just assigned who she is at birth by Algerian doctors externally in an anti-LGBT country based on her characteristics. Some of the popular voices who have raised concerns around gender norms, went too far on this too, imo. They showed a lot of hate, and they presumed malicious intent among the people involved. JK Rowling, for example, immediately went deep into publicly describing Imane's motivations to hurt women, as some hateful male devil, which was gross. Imane was assigned female at birth based on her external characteristics, for what we know. As rational people, we can separate that kind of emotional and tribalistic hate, from the scientific study of who should be allowed in which category of elite competition, in which I'd always personally lean conservative.

It’s amazing that people still have trouble identifying *obvious* media gaslighting. When a a credible accusation is leveled, the onus is on the accused to disprove it - particularly when the accusation is VERY public and the refutation is relatively easy. If the facts are on your side, exposing the facts embarrasses your opponent and dissolves the controversy. For instance, if Biden hadn’t been cognitively shot, he could have given a several hour long unscripted presser showing he was indeed “sharp as a tack.” The fact that he didn’t made it obvious something was being hidden. Now we have this gender clusterfuck with Imane Khelif, which can be EASILY disproven by having Imane take a gender test. The fact that IOC Imane has not done so tells you all you need to know. The liberal media and IOC are the embarrassed. They know their error here will lead to a wider controversy that they want to nip in the bud - they are hoping that they can just scream at you until you’ll forget about it and go away / on to the next media news cycle. But people should not go away until either: 1) Imane submits to a gender test. 2) Imane withdraws and forfeits any medals.
IOC MEDIA@iocmedia

CORRECTION In today’s IOC – Paris 2024 press briefing, IOC President Bach said: “But I repeat, here, this is not a DSD case, this is about a woman taking part in a women’s competition, and I think I have explained this many times.” What was intended was: “But I repeat, here, this is not a transgender case, this is about a woman taking part in a women’s competition, and I think I have explained this many times.”

I guess doxxing me and harassing my family wasnt enough, the moment has come where I have been fired from my job because of the joke I tweeted on here. Kind of insane that a couple seriously insecure people can actually take your job from you over something so dumb! Is this the part where I get famous and start going on podcasts!?
