@mma2mba @BobbyBizScout Rough Hollow sounds like the perfect place for a family—next time we move house, we’ll definitely go for a family-friendly neighbourhood!

I’m lucky to live in one of the nicest neighborhoods in Austin. But there are no kids. All my neighbors are 60+. Their kids graduated high school years ago so my four boys don’t have anyone to play with. Next house is going to be in a family neighborhood.

@robbiehendricks The locusts have moved on from Texas. Good to hear. Will take this as progress. At some point they will tire of losing OPM, right? Right?!?

other GP: hey man, we’re pivoting from the sun belt to the midwest, texas is dead me: oh, cool. do you have experience here? GP: no, we just know that cap rates are higher in the midwest and the buzz is strong…did you know Anduril moved to Columbus?! me: yes I did…but do you know how property taxes and insurance work out here? new supply? rents? what submarkets are strong and which to avoid? GP: i mean we’ll just pull the data from CoStar and use third-party management, it’s not that hard me:

@mattragland Life is balance. I want to have the option to be at every important thing in my kids lives. But I have to determine what the sacrifice is and make the call. Always keeping in mind that I won’t regret time with my family. I am fortunate to have that luxury.

One thing I’m really struggling with as a dad in my 40s. The next 15 years are my prime earning years as a professional. The work I did the first 15 years (25-40) are set to pay off the next 15 years. But those are also my kid’s prime childhood years. When I’m 50 my oldest will be out of the house. When I’m 55 only my baby girl will be left. It’s a “yes, and” type of answer that requires a lot of attention and intention. But this is something I think about all the time. If you’re a dad over 60—how did you experience this?

It’s the “small things”: a few minutes of properly executed rotator cuff work, a movement for glute medius, neck work (yes neck work), etc. that let you do the big things (heavy-ish compound movements, cardio etc) for decade after decade, pain free. Learn it here:

🚨James Talarico Just Declared War on Texas BBQ🚨 “I am proud to say that our campaign has officially become a non-meat campaign. We are only buying vegan products from our local vegan businesses.” Bro… you do know you’re in TEXAS, right? The state that runs on brisket, ribs, smoked sausage, and Friday night steak dinners. You didn’t just go vegan. You went full California in the BBQ capital of the world. Texans don’t send anti-meat activists to the Senate. This race is over. #TXSen #VeganInTexas #TalaricoLost #KeepTexasTexas #BrisketOverBiden

Of all the things I’ll happily ascribe to luck in my real estate career, one of the most important was being from Ohio. Just stumbled out of the womb into a stable, affordable market with gobs of jobs, landlord-friendly laws, located squarely in the epicenter of the rust belt resurgence. My office is half a mile from my high school and every single one of the 3600 units we’ve acquired is within 30 minutes of it. I get my daily iced coffee at the same Starbucks my (ex) girlfriend worked at in high school…26 years ago. As such, we’ve been blessed with fairly robust market knowledge in a market that is largely ignored by the big guys. And they should ignore it, it’s terrible I assure you. Stick with Katy. (Too soon?)

As someone who has made a career fishing in an over-fished pond, having to develop increasingly complicated techniques to catch enough to eat, take my advice: Better to find a pond with fewer fishermen.

Seems reasonable. Losing money shouldn’t constitute a death sentence. The circumstances are more important. How one handles themselves post failure says a lot. For those that are willing to hang in there and fight for deals with no promote- I commend them. Probably has been a humbling experience. However, going out and raising more in this market and under those circumstances feels like maybe not much has been learned.

I don’t expect him to leave real estate nor should anyone else. A lot of people reflect on Brandon as an excellent coach, and I think he should continue to do that. He’s mentored a lot of folks. It’s not my place to ask a man to leave what he’s done for his entire life because he got over his skis as a syndicator, nor do I think he should shirk away to some cave and shame himself for the rest of his life. I err on the side of grace, personally. Other people can feel how they wish. I’ve lost money with a guru GP, and I don’t expect him to close up shop and give up. I’m frustrated, but I’m not a fool.

Actually, Floyd was NOT "fine." He had profound existing coronary artery disease, with key coronary arteries 90% blocked. He had severe existing metabolic disease. He was a lifelong drug addict. He had just purchased drugs from his dealer standing right there on the corner, and decided to chew them up in his mouth rather than allow the approaching officers to describe this convicted felon in possession of illicit drugs YET AGAIN. Then he decided to violently fight lawful arrest against the efforts of four police officers for a full 10 minutes. Then the ambulance the police called much earlier the moment they had a hint Floyd might be in need of medical assistance arrived. The ambulance bundled Floyd up, stuck an oxygen tube in his nose that they FORGOT TO HOOK UP TO THE OXYGEN SUPPLY, and despite all that FLOYD STILL WAS FOUND TO HAVE A PULSE UPON ARRIVAL AT THE HOSPITAL. Only THEN did Floyd FINALLY die. Derek Chauvin did NOT kill George Floyd. The only person who killed George Floyd was George Floyd.

Yes odd he was fine before the police officer held him down -
