Trying to open a gel mid-run with sweaty fingers is a full side quest. Mile 8, I’m wrestling plastic like it owes me money. When it finally opens, half the gel goes in my mouth. The other half fuels my face.

@peeleraja Looking good, if I may say so. Eat at regular timings, sleep well, regular exercise is my recipe to stay healthy (I never looked good!)

@sbalaji1 I can't stand this guy. I love that he started cricinfo and it ends there. Him and Vambu (sic) are terrible in their own ways.

Even the rival faction of Iyengars wouldn't join Badri mama, let alone entire Tamil Brahmin! And this belittling of Holocaust is case of intellecutal impropriety. Brahmins are more than proportionately represented in Judiciary, Bureaucracy, academics and even commerce.

@DimitrisPapail Folks like me in some random part of the globe get access to papers written anywhere. In my field (hep-th) almost all published papers appear first on the arXiv. I also hope that 4-5 people read my paper.

Found myself posting papers to GitHub instead of arXiv lately. No gatekeeping, is in the same repo as the code, one link for everything, and gets uploaded immediately. Makes you wonder what arXiv's actual value is.

What does "bootstrap" even mean in hep-th? Do ppl have one single idea of what it means or is it just another abused word?

@fynmaaandu In the holomorphic modular bootstrap which I work on, we use constraints from modularity as well as integrality properties of the q-series of characters to search for conformal field theories. It is not obvious what all the constraints are but we impose whatever we can.

@peeleraja I always worked on projects which seemed to be fun and not necessarily fashionable. It has kept me happy. No awards but I never chased them.

Growing up in India, there is a rat race in whatever you do. Competitive exams, higher studies, career, everywhere. I chose academia as a career, but here the rat race to publish in the "top" journals has significantly and adversely affected my personal life, health and peace of mind for over a decade now. Just putting it out there for those who think academia is a cakewalk. For many of us it is not.

@ShravanXBA I always switch to miles during marathon training. 1. 26 is a smaller number than 42! 2. It is easier to maintain a given pace for a mile than a k. 3. My math goes haywire while running and so I am not overthinking.

I'm a Marathi who refuses the very premise that North India Hindi is the only true Hindi. It's a made up construct anyway. People in Maharashtra & Andhra have spoken it for centuries. Our Dakhani and Bambaiyya are not just for your Bollywood jokes. They are our languages.
Gaurav Sabnis@gauravsabnis

Dear Delhi people, It's arrogant when you interrupt our Hindi mid sentence to correct kanda to pyaaz or batata to aaloo, sitting in our state. Hindi/Urdu has been spoken here for centuries. Show respect for our version of Hindi or talk in Marathi. Best, Maharashtra
