@NathanGDQuest @ee0pdt I use this one too. I find it easier to manage the states by individual scripts on scalable projects and I also have the flexibility to use the states as components for different entities. I've used this implementation in Unity and Armory as well.

@ee0pdt That's how I taught it back in... 2016 or 2017! Now it's spread and in general nodes are a go-to option in the community but I'm never too sure how great it is. I think I'd favor inner classes these days.

@godotengine The PopupMenu Control node. It is a bit annoying to add, remove or change item orders and is also hard to apply a new style to them. It would be great if it can be more flexible.

@sam_vandersluis I use both Godot and Unity. If you are starting in gamedev I strongly recommend you to start with Godot. While Unity has more tutorials I think is harder to learn how to finish a game with it.

I have had a few people suggest I try out game dev. I’m definitely into the pixel art top down style, and likely it would be a fantasy simulator with crafting. Any good recs for game engines? Beginner friendly preferred, but also ok with a bit of a learning curve.
