Actually it was Anti Dravidian politics that got spiced up post 2022 with KA spearheading BJP at the helm. People were fed up with Dravidian politics and wanted change. This got thwarted and JV, Seeman have taken this momentum and gambling this election. In principle, it's correct that you need the right force to eliminate the bad one. The mood is not ADMK vs DMK, rather Dravidianism vs Nationalism (Anti Dravidianism) . But, JV and Seeman cannot take both head on for the change. Had BJP formed an alliance without Kazhagams, they would have been the leader (as JV, Seeman could not and people would have favored BJP) but failed to capitalise. Second chance was there with Congress and TVK plus alliances (for coalition with PMK, DMDK and may be VCK, Communists).. But, both Pangaalis cleverly disrupted the plan through backdoor channels. The only consolation is that this elections will not be based on the core vote base strength of the two Dravidian parties, rather the victory will be decided by the neutral/ swing voters plus first time voters deciding the fate. A partial success means, arise of new players, hung assembly or least a minority coalition government. Let's hope for the best! @sgurumurthy

If Northies think Delimitation is better for them, regardless of what happens to Southies, then they are wrong Taking more care of the driver’s cabin than the engine of a car does not improve the car’s overall health, instead, it will make the entire car useless in the coming days 🙌

The timing of this delimitation exercise raises serious doubts. This feels like handing it to the DMK on a platter. Why would the BJP led Union government push this now, when Tamil Nadu is barely a week away from elections? Does the BJP even intend to win the state, or has it decided Tamil Nadu’s support won’t matter post delimitation? This puts the ADMK–BJP alliance in a very tough spot. This election could well be a washout for them. They already seem braced for third place. The timing alone makes this feel like campaign fodder for M. K. Stalin. This does a number of things for the DMK: 1.Distracts from core issues: drugs, caste violence, crimes against women, bad governance 2.Shifts spotlight back to Stalin from Vijay 3.Pulls dissenting votes from an already fragmented ADMK base toward DMK But here’s the miss: People of Tamil Nadu aren’t buying this anymore. They know the games both DMK and BJP can play. Those dissenting ADMK votes aren’t guaranteed to go to DMK. A significant chunk is more likely to consolidate behind TVK, as the DMK’s play here is becoming increasingly obvious. The state is ripe for change, and that momentum is increasingly swinging toward #Thalapathy Vijay and TVK @TVKVijayHQ #Vijay #TVKVijay#TVK#DMKfails #BJPfails #ADMKFailed #Delimitation

#Delimitation: The sword that hung over our heads has now descended upon us. In consultation with our DMK MPs, we are reaching out to Members of Parliament across states and devising a coordinated strategy to counter this grave danger. This is not about parties or individuals. It is about protecting the rights of our people. I appeal to all parties and MPs across India to unite to safeguard our democracy. #TNWillFightTNWillWin

A question has always intrigued me. Despite being a minority the Thamizh Hindus via the LTTE created an entity that fought back hard against the Sinhalese military & religious & ethnic chauvinists. Why couldn't the Hindus of Fiji or Guyana do the same? The vastly different response of Eelam, Fijian & Guyanese Hindus to violent (religion+ethnicity based) oppression is striking. They're all descendants of indentured laborers with similar indicators & demographics. Hindus from Eelam & Malaysia are Thamizh whereas those from Fiji-Guyana hail from UP, Bihar & Haryana. Hindus were the majority in Fiji & the campaign by the Methodist Church of Fiji & Rotuma backed by the Fijian army resulted in Fiji going from 55% Hindu majority to 24% today (that included military coups & forced conversions). Following the deposition of Chhedi Jagan in 1964, there was widespread repression in Guyana under the Forbes Burnham administration that included events like the Wismar Massacre. In both Fiji & Guyana the Hindu community preferred to immigrate out in large numbers rather than stay & put up a militant resistance like the Eelam Thamizh. Why? Was it because unlike the LTTE finding a benefactor & safe haven in India & the Fiji-Guyanese finding nothing of that sort? Was there even an attempt at a resistance? Can someone please explain how & why was the community targeted in the way that it was especially wrt Great power competition? @ShawnBinda @DennisRChandra @Agathyan____ @ArunAnnow

@TejAdarkar @saigovind432 It’s still not a fair comparison. While both are colonial era migrant communities, Fiji Indians were once the majority there. In Malaysia, Tamils were largely an underclass migrant minority community and never held comparable numbers or power.

@saigovind432 @molagavedi What would separate the Malaysian Thamizh & the Indo-Fijians & their approach to their oppression? Tbf the repression was quite extreme wrt the Indo-Fijians.

@TejAdarkar I repeat, everything else is colonial. Eelam is native Tamil land dating back millennia. This is false equivalence.

Indo-Guyanese & Afro-Guyanese together make up the overwhelming majority of Guyana. Hinduism was the majority in Fiji. They're indigenous to both countries making up the majority & ethnically dominating regions in both countries as well. Malaysian Thamizh Hindus are a large but distinct minority who have retained their identity. Indo-Guyanese & Indo-Fijians have strong roots in both countries (like Mauritius, Reunion, Trinidad et al) & are not a small politically insignificant colonial era migrant group like the Gujaratis in Burma or Uganda. Infact the Hindus led the anti colonial struggles in both countries. Just like the Eelam Thamizh Hindus vis a vis the Sinhalese Buddhists, they faced a genocidal campaign targeting their religion, language & culture by elements backed by the Church. So from the perspective of mounting resistance, the elements are there in all three societies. The vastly different outcomes in all 3 scenarios is what I think needs to be studied.

🚨 #Delimitation : A Serious Threat to #southindian States! ⚠️ If the proposed delimitation is based on population, 4 Northern states 🏛️ will get 324 seats (36%) on nation, while South Indian states will have just 165 seats! ⚖️❌ 📉 Using #NFHS Fertility Rate & Population Projections (India’s Emerging Crisis of Representation Study), here’s the expected increase in Lok Sabha seats: 🔺 Northern States 📌 Rajasthan – 📈 +100% 📌 Bihar – 📈 +98% 📌 Madhya Pradesh – 📈 +79% 📌 Uttar Pradesh – 📈 +79% 🔻 Southern States 📌 Karnataka – 📈 +46% 📌 Andhra Pradesh & Telangana – 📈 +29% 📌 Tamil Nadu – 📈 +26% 📌 Kerala & Puducherry – ❌ 0% South, which controlled population, is now penalized!. @LokSabhaSectt

@TejAdarkar Malaysian Tamils are in the same boat as Fiji and Guyana Indians. They are colonial era migrants trying to assert their rights. Eelam Tamil history is entirely different. They are historically native to Srilanka as much as the Sinhalese are. Let's not bring Eelam into this.

I'm approaching this from a strategic/tactical realpolitik perspective whereas you're making ideological & propaganda narrative points. The line I originally wanted to write is that Thamizh Hindus in Malaysia have similarly aggressively safeguarded their rights. I'm basically trying to deduce things like how did the community decide that militant action is the way forward & managed to achieve it & why the Hindus of Fiji & Guyana felt hopeless & decided to leave. My understanding is that before Black July militant recruitment was extremely limited anyhow.

@TejAdarkar The comparison simply doesn't hold. Eelam Tamils are native to the island, while Tamils in Malaysia and Indians in Fiji and Guyana are colonial era migrants. It’s like comparing apples to oranges. The framing of the original post itself is flawed.
