I’ll end with a couple takeaways I learned through being a foster dad. 1) Be kind & empathetic to everyone. You never know how others grew up or what awful environments they endured. I had 2 parents that loved me. I thought most kids had at least 1. Truth is a lot don’t.

@monkeycapital_ Nope, I mean the poor clueless fresh grads who don't get jobs, are smart but never learned much at college, no one took a bet on them & losing confidence every day -- have you met any? I've met 100s of them in my 20 yrs of building. 99% of them are thankful for the opportunity.

When hiring your first employees at your seed-stage startup and the candidate says they *need* to make $350k/year, they are really saying they don't want to work at a startup and you should probably listen to them instead of trying to make it work.

Privilege is the term I'd use too. To be this tone deaf and this privileged and insulated to just post a picture of 7 guys on International Women's Day none the less.

You might like to think that but Bain is a powerhouse & in the grand scheme of things will be more than okay In the background they've done a ton of due diligence work for investments in web3 by funds such as Tiger Global, etc Is this announcement tone deaf though? Yeah majorly
Jay@jayhinz

@stefancoh web3 crypto start ups are built different - I genuinely wonder if this one tweet will follow y’all when trying to get deal flow. founders in this space care and are gonna ask.

In 1994, Jeff Bezos famously spotted a stat that made him leave his high-paying PE job to start Amazon: 💡 The Internet was growing 2300% per year. What are the generation-defining stats of today? I'll post a few to kick things off...

@joakimhi @paulg @KheteshAkoliya If you read YC batch announcements, copycats are starting to dominate. And for good reason. Market has been validated in one geography, by being the first to copy, the founders and investors can cash in splendidly. There's regional tweaking but ideas are essentially copied

People who copy your startup are at an inherent disadvantage. All other things being equal, earnest people are more likely to succeed. But earnest people don't clone.

@dollarsanddata @paulg Thank you for the sanity check. Back in 2013, I was working at a Rocket Internet (clone factory) funded startup; there was so much disdain by the tech elites because there was no "innovation" Now they're all comfortable funding the same playbook: neobanks, 10m delivery, fintech+

@paulg @KheteshAkoliya I can. YC batches of the recent past have been filled to with clones - not in the same geographies but what one company is doing in the US, 5 YC companies are doing in their own geographies (Latin America, Asia, Africa, etc.) Obviously no one is going to say "I'm a copy of X"

@KheteshAkoliya Off the top of my head I can' t think of any YC cos that were mere clones. It wouldn't play well in an YC interview if the partners asked what you were making, and you said a copy of something else.

There’s a rule - if you try to cover for bad quality leadership with quantity, you’ll make everything worse. And I repeat this would be the problem in the IDEAL SCENARIO, which does not exist.

I mean this is a great tweet for engagement but not fair to compare a functional democracy to a war ravaged country with a puppet government. If anything, it's worth pointing out that the US ran with its tail tucked in ,abandoning the people of Afghanistan when the Taliban came
Anthony Pompliano 🌪@APompliano

Watching the Ukrainian leadership stay and fight for their country despite the personal risk is even more courageous when you remember the Afghan leaders ran out the back door with bags of cash when the Taliban was coming.

@RealRossU While I feel that the sentencing could have been more lenient - you were plotting murders and contracting hitmen to try and take out people. And running an illegal drug marketplace. I wish you could be there for them too but you should have been thinking about this then tbh.

I got selected for a full-time job for London's PR & Branding Agency. It was offering me 3x my current income. Had to take a hard call of declining it. Want to know why?
