@realmikolson Justification happens not through some kind of declaration, but through God actually making us holy. Us continuing in a state of holiness requires us to love God, which is a form of cooperation

Roman Catholic friends, Is justification a one-time, for all-time, declaration of righteousness by God, or an ongoing process that depends on our cooperation (good works)? Follow-up question: If it’s an ongoing process, what is the standard God uses to determine if someone has done ‘enough’ good works to be justified? How can a person have certainty they’re in ‘good-standing’ with God (righteous—‘a state of grace,’ as Rome teaches)? Be specific.

Who else misses the boring, no-drama days of @JoeBiden? No chaos. No circus. No daily embarrassment. Just quiet competence from a president who actually knew how to do the job.

By grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God—not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

@UnseenWyoGal @realmikolson If you’re interpreting all have sinned to require every human to have committed a sin, then that would contradict Jesus being the spotless lamb

I did it. I found the most ridiculous Roman Catholic take yet. The take: because the Bible doesn’t list a specific sin Mary committed, that means she was totally sinless her entire life just like Jesus was. But the Bible also never lists a sin of - Daniel - Joseph - Job Did they never sin simply because there isn’t a specific one listed in the text? If so, does that mean Paul lied to us in Romans 3 by telling us “ALL have sinned.” Friends, let this guy be a lesson in how to NOT do theology 😂☠️👇
🍄Fatuus Dei🍄@MichaeliArchang

Can you name a single sin Mary committed? Put up or shut up.

@mottovating20 The historic Protestant view of sola fide includes faith producing good works, which are perfected by Christ’s flawless righteousness then imputed to us for righteousness. John Calvin says:

If I visit a Roman Catholic Church I feel lost in their odd traditions and practices that are very foreign to someone who attends a simple Bible Church. When I read the Apostolic Fathers, I feel right at home with their teachings.

@farmingandJesus Three questions: 1. What do you mean by faith and believe? 2. Is faith a supernatural gift or a product of our natural gifts? 3. If faith is a supernatural gift, then how could it depend on our state of development?

@BibleInContext1 “What they’re really trying to say is…” False. We know that there were people who called themselves Christian but weren’t in the church. But Prots didn’t exist before 1500 because THOSE WEREN’T PROTESTANTS!

EXCELLENT point here! 👇 The 66 books Protestants historically hold to are the 66 books no one disputes. Not Jews (OT). Not Protestants. Not Roman Catholics. Not Orthodox. Everyone agrees, and has since the first century (and before, regarding the Jews, as they were “entrusted with the oracles of God,” says Romans 3). It’s the other 7 from Rome (or 9 to 13, depending on the Eastern tradition) that have been under dispute the whole time as to whether or not they’re “theopneustos” (God-breathed; inspired Scripture). In other words, the Protestant tradition is the ONLY tradition to date that actually holds to an undisputed, universally-accepted Canon. The other traditions base their Canon’s “theopneustos” status on a lengthy history of rigorous disputes and debates. Luther’s argument was simple against the Roman Canon: the Jews, entrusted with the protection and preservation of the OT Canon did not hold to the apocrypha as “theopneustos” then neither should we. In summary, it’s NOT the Protestant taking away anything that’s not unanimously accepted Scripture. It’s the other traditions adding that which is up for debate.

@PawleSardano @realmikolson Really, Protestants should just point out that we use the *undisputed* Canon of Scripture. And I'll happily demonstrate that by referencing the Church Fathers on the subject. The RCC and the EO and the SO and the Church of the East can debate the disputed books.

@iam_shwa Tired old argument. Works is an indicator, not a driver, of salvation. Genuine faith leads to both salvation and good works. Lack of good works shows that the faith is a lie and there's no salvation. Yawn. Next question.

Only Catholic Theology makes sense of this: James: Do you see that by works a man is justified; and not by faith only? Paul: For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law. Protestants just pick one
