Let's study the positive and negative impacts of reversing the gun bans and leaving legal gun owners alone .... @MarkJCarney Positive: ▶️Save $2-$6B for taxpayers ▶️End a divisive Trudeau era policy that had no effect on public safety ▶️Refocus funding to law enforcement, CBSA (borders, smuggling), RCMP ▶️Properly fund the firearms program, actually do all vetting ▶️Win back left leaning gun owners and their families ▶️Prevent police resources being wasted on buyback ▶️Show you’re not Trudeau ▶️Secure relationship with FN hunters ▶️ save the Supreme Court from giving us a win ▶️End the embarrassment of the 6 year failure of the confiscation program ▶️Gain back support from law enforcement ▶️Salvage unity and prevent provincial tensions ▶️Probably win a bigger, legit majority Negative: ▶️Annoy PolySeSouvient It's pretty clear what needs to happen ... 🇨🇦

🇺🇸"Authorities described the Shreveport (#Louisiana) tragedy as an event of #DomesticViolence. This isn’t random, as domestic violence is at the heart of so much #GunViolence. 70 women are shot & killed by an intimate partner every single month in America from homicides, suicides, and mass shootings: ➡️The majority of mass shootings (59%) are related to domestic violence. ➡️Firearm use is associated with increased risk of multiple domestic homicides. ... ➡️The likelihood of surviving a mass shooting is much lower when it’s related to domestic violence." - Epidemiologist @dr_kkjetelina & ER Dr @meganranney cqct.qc.ca/Documents_docs…

A woman transporting rescue cats to their new homes had no choice but to put some in cargo. When the plane landed in Athens, Greece, she watched nervously through the window as luggage came down the ramp. Then she saw a baggage handler pick up each cat carrier slowly, crouch down, look inside, and gently talk to the animals one by one. He didn’t know anyone was watching. His name is Archie Ardales, 32, originally from the Philippines. When asked why he did it, he said the cats were probably scared because it was their first flight. He just wanted to comfort them.

In my new interview with Andy Weir, he clarifies his position on "social commentary": ANDY: “I’m not trying to change society and I'm not trying to change anyone's opinion of anything. I firmly consider myself just an entertainer. I'm just writing stories to entertain. I'm not trying to set your opinion or change your mind on anything. When you're done with one of my books, I want you to put it back on the shelf and say, "That was cool. I enjoyed reading that..." "I'm not here to solve a pessimism epidemic. All I can do is just be me. I'm not pessimistic. I think humans are really awesome. I think technology is really awesome because technology is then put into the hands of humans who are awesome." "People are afraid of AI, but AI can do things no human can. I'm like, "So can a forklift." If I give you a hammer, you could build a house or you could murder someone. There's nothing about the hammer that does it. And most people use hammers to build houses." "So I'm not afraid of technology because I'm not afraid of my fellow humanity. I'm optimistic that way."

Project Hail Mary writer Andy Weir on social commentary in books: "I dislike social commentary. Like… I really hate it. When I’m reading a book, I just want to be entertained, not preached at by the author. Plus, it ruins the wonder of the story if I know the author has a political or social axe to grind. I no longer speculate about all possible outcomes of the story because I know for a fact that the universe of that book will conspire to ensure that the author’s political agenda is validated. I hate that." "I put no politics or social commentary into my stories at all. Anyone who thinks they see something like that is reading it in on their own. I have no point to make, and I’m not trying to affect the reader’s opinion on anything. My sole job is to entertain, and I stick to that." "To that end, I also don’t talk about my personal political opinions publicly. I don’t want readers to even know, honestly. I don’t want that in the back of their minds as they read my stuff." Is this why he has the #1 sci-fi movie in decades?

Unbelievable new RBC report: Between 2015-2024, more than $1 trillion in investment exited Canada, making it the largest capital exodus in Canadian history. This is the record of the Liberal government under Justin Trudeau and Mark Carney.

A 91-year-old grandmother missed her daily family check-in calls. Police were called for a welfare check. They found her locked in her room chasing a personal record on a video game. Everybody's fine. Grandma's busy. Do not disturb.
