Having identified the risks and vulnerabilities in the lithium sector in our recent Mine to Market Situational Report for critical minerals which tracked Zimbabwe’s Lithium supply and value chains, we take comfort in knowing that some recommendations in the situational report are aligned with Government’s position at this moment. Notable projects include: • The ZZEE 50 megawatts Thermal Power Plant in Hwange that is currently feeding power into the Grid; • Dinson Steel 50 megawatts Thermal Power Project in Chivhu, which will be expanded to 100 megawatts by the end of 2025; • Blanket Mine 13 megawatts solar PV plant; • Zimplats 35 megawatts solar PV plant; and • Centragrid 25 megawatts solar PV plant in Nyabira. There is indeed light at the end of the tunnel.

10 years ago, a company was awarded a US$172 800 000 tender for a 100-megawatt Solar project. (Gwanda Solar Project). The project never took off. We are not a poor country. We have poor resource managers. ##Asakhe
