Tax authorities all over the world are interesting. A French footballer says he no longer lives in France but Dubai so he should not be liable to tax in France. Guess what they used to "catch" him? Food orders. How can you make 200+ "Chowdeck" orders in a year if you don't live in Nigeria? Tax authorities use all data they can find to do their work and they are usually empowered by laws to request any data about anyone from any institution (I remember some Nigerians arguing here that banks giving customer information to tax authorities is a breach of confidentiality. In tax laws of almost all jurisdictions, tax authorities can request for any info about anyone from any institution, including banks). It took data from "food app orders" to prove the case against this footballer. That said, I wonder how it got to this extent before they proved it. Passport is usually enough. Didn't they check his immigration records - entry and exit into France?
