This case feels really strange. Someone is accusing Abdinasir Ali Hassan or one of his family members of stealing his home in Mogadishu. But Abdinasir is a well known Somali billionaire businessman who owns an oil company operating in 11 African countries. He had donated millions to humanitarian causes and mosques over the years. He is also the only major Somali businessman who moved half of his company’s offices back to Somalia a decade ago and started training new Somali graduates there. Now he’s suddenly being accused of robbing a poor man’s house? It just doesn’t add up. I am not trying to dismiss the Yemeni man’s grievances, he deserves to be heard. But something about this story feels very off. Especially knowing that Abdinasir is a deeply religious man with a strong reputation for giving back.
