One thing Labor politicians learn, very quickly, is most of the people who interview them are paid a lot but believe their pay is actually not that high. I had one very senior journo once tell me $300k wasn’t that high, and he thought this was close to the average wage.

I'm running numbers on family trusts. If the trust owned by mum, dad, and 19-year-old daughter earns $180,000 a year and they distribute $60,000 to each the tax will be three times $9,000 = $27000. At 30% flat, it's $54,000. That's double - The only way out is to change distributions to wages, but they must be able to justify the wage. It's a shameful attack on business

On Planet Timmy people on $25,000 have enough spare cash to generate $10,000 in capital gains. The minimum full time wage in Australia is $50,000. The All Ords is up about 5% over the past year. To make $10,000 you had $200,000 in shares or cash.
