Mike....King of doing a bunch of analysis in Excel, copying the charts into PowerPoint and then deleting the Excel file.

@5le SEO efforts by themselves should result in a higher Share of Search - an acquisition metric. UX/UI, stock levels, CRO, etc. efforts should result in higher leads/sales/revenue/etc. - outcome metrics. SEO efforts directly drive traffic, but can indirectly influence other metrics.

If you could only choose one metric to measure all of your SEO efforts, what would it be and why?

@5le @dohertyjf Internal UTMs are usually frowned upon; although many use them like this. If configured properly, you should be able to see attribution by using Page Title (Page Not Found... or usually something similar) and event tracking on internal links - ideally with $$$ values associated

Want to steal one of my best low hanging fruit ideas? This is something that anytime I work with a SAAS site that produces many pages NEVER fails to generate meaningful revenue at ZERO cost, and I don't know why it works but apparently it's good for users.

@5le Let the client/employer know immediately and provide an initial perspective on what you believe is happening, while assuring them you will dig in, find the issue(s), and come back with a prioritized plan to remediate.

You get access to a clients or new employer's Google search console and everything is on a negative trend. What's the first thing you do?

@randfish Provide unthrottled, full access for 3-4 SparkToro predetermined queries - allowing prospects to understand the full potential of the platform. If they are a remotely decent marketer, they should see value... prompting them to create a free account.

CRO Friends, what would you do here? We recently launched a new homepage. From Jan 1 - Feb 12: A) ~2.5K folks entered a search term that yielded no results (30% of first-time searches) B) Of the ~6k who ran a search w/ results, only 38% created a free account (cont.)

@andrewchen @brian_armstrong Coming in 2nd place after Peacock is not what I would consider an accomplishment, considering Peacock recorded adj. losses of $1.7B in 2021. None of the top 5 will be here come next Monday; they were downloaded based on interest in timeboxed events. Downloads ≠ Monetization

TLDR; Super Bowl commercials work I apologize to all the startups who I wrongly advised to avoid Super Bowl ads 😂 Seriously though, congrats to @brian_armstrong and the Coinbase team!

#Coinbase moved from 186 to 2 in the most downloaded apps - suggesting the commercial was a success; #PeacockTV is rated 1 and we all know that dumpster fire was only downloaded for the big game. How many of these top 5 will be rated in the top 20 next week? Do real #marketing

@cpatters7 In your 'How to build a long-term, search-first marketing strategy' you ref. "According to research from Moz, 84% of people use Google at least three times a day, and about half of all product searches start with Google" - can you provide me a link to that study?

@wilreynolds If this is an ecom or lead gen site, you could likely leverage some of the data/charts found in this excellent study showcasing the impact and importance of brand building in conjunction with performance marketing to capture the most value: content.ascential.com/rs/897-MBC-207…

@wilreynolds Did direct and organic plateau or did it fall to pre-4x-display values and go flat? Are you outside looking in or inside looking out? There is ROAS based on transactions, newsletter signups, - other macro/micro conversions/behavior, including social follows/engagement.

If a client increased spend by 4x on display (for brand building) and their direct and organic traffic was flat 7 weeks after the campaign stopped, where else would you go to see if that brand campaign had an impact?

@danatanseo AND do your homework on my org before your agency reaches out! The "e-com experts" reached out last week and were insistent on their ability to help us. I informed them we sell $100M hospitals and $1B+ stadiums - "Which part of our business would benefit from e-com strategy?"

Dear SEO agencies, if you're trying to earn my business, please don't send me a "Whitepaper" disguising a pitch as useful content. I just received the "The Five Most Common Objections to SEO" - from an agency that won't be named. #1 was "SEO doesn't work." - wow. #fiction
