Call me crazy, but my belief is that Sergey (SN=SN) created #Bitcoin to remove the need for central banks, and then created #Chainlink to continue the connection of all financial institutions around the world while simultaneously guaranteeing cryptographic truth.
He first needed to create $BTC to act as the global reserve currency with the BTC blockchain as the global ledger.
While BTC was gaining traction he then moved to building $LINK which would allow financial institutions to continue their interconnected operations without the need for a central governing body, with the idea that chainlink would enable publication to the BTC blockchain from any other private/public blockchain.
We can clearly see this starting to play out in real time with banks creating their own stable coins, and tokenizing real world assets.
