In theory, this could scale to ~100Mt negative CO2 emissions and be revenue positive: Negative emissions credits + resale of recycled aggregate for new concrete + avoidance of landfill costs.

Our new paper is out: We're exploring the intersection of electrochemical OAE and concrete waste recycling - turns out they're a match made in heaven. One produces weak waste acid and the other requires weak acid to valorize demolition waste! pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…

Conversely, equatorial regions were the slowest but eventually reached near-complete equilibration after 15 years. Polar regions, esp. near regions of deep water formations were fast at first but quickly stalled due to loss of alkalinity to the deep.

Wow 🤯 - my former post doc advisor David Baker won the Nobel Prize for Protein Design. Huge congrats - well deserved! David and his lab have been a force of nature in protein design. Incredible watching the progress over the last 20 years. #NobelPrize2024

Ever wondered how many amino acids you can mutate to alanine and AlphaFold2 still predicts same structure? 🤔For denovo design Top7 (1QYS), single-sequence mode, it's 60%. (1/2)

En 2019, j’achetais ce livre de deepfakes par l’artiste @mtyka. Son intro était très politique, intitulée « Les conséquences de la falsification algorithmique des voix et des vidéos pour une société démocratique », mentionnant les usines à trolls russes. 2/3

These 4 regions are also shown below as individual examples. We show that the spread and subduction of the excess alkalinity plume is quite different at different latitudes. The loss of excess alkalinity in the north Atlantic is very apparent in the vertical profiles (iii)

This spread is quite significant. We quantified the spread for all the simulated locations and found that equilibration occurs over areas spanning 1000s of kilometers. This poses significant challenges for high resolution regional models.

We also analyzed the contributions of surface gas exchange (e.g. wind speeds), surface carbonate chemistry and vertical transport and show that all three play a significant role in determining the equilibration kinetics as the plume spreads over time.
