Something that has been interesting for me since the war between Israel + Iran began, is seeing how little even those who oppose the regime and its proxies actually know about the extent of the crimes they’ve committed in other countries. For example, the Syrian civil war: I am at a loss over how many unironic posts I’ve read from people who claim to be opposed to Hezbollah, in response to this idea that Syria is going to invade them (it isn’t), saying things like: “at the very least, 1 thing we should appreciate is the fact that Hezbollah doesn’t rape civilians or randomly gun people down”. Oh, sweet child… do I have news for you… Hezbollah didn’t just stop at indiscriminate massacres and starvation sieges in Syria. They used rape as a ‘weapon of war’ throughout the entirety of the civil war, just like other militias. Not even young girls or boys were spared. Hezbollah was responsible for (+ actively engaged in) the kidnapping + selling of Syrian civilians into human trafficking and forced sex slavery… where the hell have you been??
