8 weeks ago, our daughter had surgery on her knee. Out of sport a year. Full leg cast etc & tough times. Tonight, I’ve been sat in a hospital with my son. Who now has a radial head fracture on left arm. 1 child in full leg brace, 1 child in a arm sling. Give me strength! 🤯

Judge Abdul Iqbal Spares Man Jail After Sexual Assault of a Woman in a Taxi. The offender, Mohammed Shafiq, 36, assaulted a woman who had gotten into a taxi after a night out. During the journey, he touched her inappropriately while she repeatedly told him to stop. She reported the incident immediately after leaving the vehicle. Judge Iqbal accepted several mitigating factors: • Shafiq had no previous convictions • He pleaded guilty early • He expressed remorse • He had significant mental‑health issues, including depression • A pre‑sentence report assessed him as low risk of reoffending. Recorder Iqbal imposed: • 10‑month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months • Sexual Harm Prevention Order • Rehabilitation activity requirement • Unpaid work • Five years on the Sex Offenders Register He warned Shafiq that any breach would result in immediate custody. The decision caused strong backlash, especially from women’s‑safety groups and taxi‑safety campaigners. Critics argued that taxis are supposed to be safe spaces and that sexual assaults in them should always result in immediate custody. Campaigners said the ruling “undermined trust in public transport safety.”

Just wanted to say a massive thank you to the crew of the @ScotAirAmb last night for flying out to Arran to collect my dad after he suffered a stroke yesterday. They safely got him across the water to the mainland. A long day for this crew no doubt, yet they came for him. I hope this tweet makes it back to them. As a fellow helicopter crew gal, I hope you know how much what you do matters to people. 🙏🫶 dad is talking now, but a long road ahead 😔😢

Today we pause to remember the extraordinary sacrifice of Sergeant Michael Willetts GC, whose brave actions on the evening of 25 May 1971 in Northern Ireland saved the lives of adults and children but tragically cost him his own.  Sgt Willetts was serving with 3rd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment, in Belfast when a terrorist entered the Springfield Road Police Station in Belfast, dumped a suitcase containing a bomb and fled outside.  Inside the room were two adults, two children and several police officers, who raised the alarm and began to organize the evacuation of the hall.  Sgt Willetts was on duty in the inner hall. Hearing the alarm, he sent an NCO up to the first floor to warn those above and hastened to the door towards which a police officer was thrusting those in the reception hall and office. He held the door open while all passed safely through and then stood in the doorway, shielding those taking cover.  In the next moment, the bomb exploded with terrible force and Sgt Willets was mortally wounded. His duty did not require him to enter the threatened area; his post was elsewhere and he knew the peril of going towards a terrorist bomb, but he did not hesitate to do so.  All those approaching the door from the far side agreed that if they had had to check to open the door they would have perished.   For his act of the greatest gallantry and complete disregard for his own safety in striving to save others, Sgt Willetts was posthumously awarded the George Cross. 🟩
