50% OF UK IPF PATIENTS ARE DENIED ACCESS TO ANTIFIBROTIC TREATMENT BY NICE RULES. Early stage IPF patients (FVC > 80%) and those with advanced symptoms (FVC>50%) cannot be prescribed. This is grossly unfair and results in worse outcomes and ultimately shorter lives

Excited to see our patient app now can let patients enter data, such as Blood Pressure, also viewable by @uclh clinicians. I think this is a UK first for patients to be able to enter data into their main electronic health record, but let me know if I’m wrong. 😀

There are 70,000 people living with ILD in the UK. It is unclear whether government guidance on extreme vulnerability and shielding covers ILD patients. As yet, very few patients have been contacted by either the NHS or their GP.

Chief Medical Officers : UK Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) patients need to know URGENTLY if we are considered ‘extremely vulnerable’ to Covid-19 and must follow shielding guidance. PLEASE CLARIFY @CMO_England @CMOWales @cathcalderwood1 @PHE_uk @RCPLondon @ActionPFcharity
