Big news: New Fed Chair Kevin Warsh just announced the members of his 5 tasks forces. It's a mix of academics, central bankers, and biz/tech leaders. Also a mix of left and right leaning

When I’m governor, I’m going to put $1500 in your pocket. Greg Abbott has been hoarding billions in taxpayer dollars, and at a time when Texans are struggling to afford the basics, I’m going to put that money where it belongs: with Texans.

I sometimes hear people say that state governments can't hire top AI talent. Michael Chen (formerly at METR and Stripe) joining Cal OES to work on frontier AI safety is proof of that not being true. Congrats to Michael, and more people should consider following his path!

I've joined California state government! As AI Science Advisor at the Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES), I'm advising senior leadership on frontier AI safety: critical safety incidents, AI and cyber defense, and risk from developers' internal deployment of AI.

11/ If culture moves policy, then funding culture is how we change things. That means resourcing creators directly through programs like the Economic Futures creator cohort and by putting more cash into people’s pockets so they have the freedom to tell their own stories.

1/ Policy is downstream of culture. That's something I've believed for a long time — and sitting down with comedian, director, and Emmy and Peabody winner @wkamaubell at Guaranteed Income Now in Austin, TX last week, he gave me a sharper way to say it:
