Did you know 46 BC was the longest year in recorded history? It lasted 445 days. Rome’s calendar had drifted so far out of sync with the seasons that Julius Caesar had to reset the whole system. The science was simple: Earth does not orbit the sun in exactly 365 days. It takes about 365.24 days, and that tiny fraction adds up. So Caesar added extra months to 46 BC, realigned the calendar with the solar year, and launched the Julian calendar in 45 BC. Basically: 46 BC was the software update. 45 BC was the new operating system. That calendar shaped the West for over 1,500 years, until the Gregorian calendar fixed the remaining 11-minute-per-year bug. Your phone calendar has Roman drama in its source code. Isn’t that interesting?

Hello @AOC, while you smiled in a hijab at a New York event, I was in Federal Court facing the 4th hitman hired by the Islamic Republic to assassinate me, for campaigning for Iranian women to have the same freedom you performed for a photo op. Will you come to court with me in August when I face the 5th hitman? Or does solidarity only work when it doesn't offend the Islamic regime? You wore hijab voluntarily in New York. Women are killed in Iran for taking it off. You are the very woman who, at every opportunity, protests against violence against women, decries gender segregation, and champions "inclusion." Yet here you stand, smiling and wearing a hijab, at an event in New York, in the heart of the West, where men and women are strictly separated. To me and millions of Iranian women, this does not look like a choice. It is no longer "My body, my choice," but rather "My body for votes." They who claim to fight for women's self-determination in the name of feminism voluntarily embrace an ideology that mandates our women cover their hair simply because they are women. They enjoy the prosperity, freedom, and privileges of the Western world, where they may live as autonomous individuals , yet they simultaneously accept that other women should not be afforded the same rights. #LetUsTalk

In 1948–49, amid violent anti-Jewish riots in Yemen, Israel launched one of history’s greatest rescues: Operation Magic Carpet. Yemen’s 45,000 Jews faced annihilation after centuries of brutal persecution under Muslim rule — including the infamous Mawza Exile (1679), the Orphans’ Decree (forced conversion of Jewish children), pogroms, expulsions, and dhimmi humiliation. Israeli planes airlifted nearly the entire ancient community — 49,000 people — to safety. Most had never seen an airplane before. Planes packed with 500–600 passengers flew them “on the wings of eagles.”Golda Meir greeted many on arrival. Today, Yemenite Jews and their descendants thrive as doctors, soldiers, artists, rabbis, and leaders in Israel. From 1,400 years of persecution to full equality in their ancestral homeland — in a single generation. Israel exists and will continue to exist and no Jewish community will ever be trapped and marked for expulsion, forced conversion, or death again.

To Muslims who are thinking about living in Japan. There is something I want to say honestly first. Life in Japan was not built around your faith. Ramen may contain pork-bone broth. Convenience store food may contain pork-derived ingredients. In summer, there are shrine festivals. At New Year, many people visit shrines for hatsumode. When someone dies, cremation is the norm. At drinking gatherings, there is also a culture of pouring drinks for others. This is not harassment. It is simply the everyday life that Japanese people have built over a long period of time. Of course, your faith should be respected. But in the same way, Japanese culture and customs should also be respected. Before coming here and saying, “I want this changed,” please think carefully about whether this country truly fits you. Japan does not exist to reject anyone. But it also does not exist to be remade for someone else’s convenience.

📽️The #Tokyo Trial, 80 Years On: A Review of #Justice in Numbers 🔴The Tokyo Trials, a litmus test of humanity’s conscience, delivered historical justice. With neo-militarism rising in Japan and beginning to pose a real threat, it is all the more relevant to renew the backdrop, conclusion and principles of the Tokyo Trials. 🔴We will work with all peace-loving countries and people to firmly reject any attempts to reverse history’s verdict on aggression. We also admonish Japanese right-wing forces to listen to the calls for justice and stop plunging further down the dead-end path of neo-militarism. 🔴The lessons of the history are still fresh in memory. Anyone who undermines peace and challenges righteousness and consciousness is bound to be brought once again before the court of history and justice.

It's irksome how the people of China have no say in how their country is run... At least according to outlets such as the Economist Until of course, the people of China make some demand of the government and the government responds Now Chinese are touchy and nationalistic

Just two weeks ago, the PResident of the USA and many US industry leaders were in China looking for Chinese investments Now, the Select Committee on China shows what they plan when Chinese investors spend money to "Make America Great Again" They'll restrict, sanction and seize
Select Committee on China@ChinaSelect

AVIC builds military aircraft for the Chinese Communist Party, supplies Iran-linked entities, and has been repeatedly flagged by @ChinaSelect as a national security threat. Yet through its ownership of @Cirrus_Aircraft and other U.S. aviation assets, @_AVICINTL still operates freely inside America’s aerospace sector. @RepPatHarrigan is speaking out against the CCP’s strategy of using “civilian” acquisitions to gain access to sensitive U.S. technology and manufacturing capabilities. While China weaponizes Military-Civil Fusion, Washington can’t afford to stay asleep at the controls. The Select Committee has already exposed billions in U.S. investment flowing into Chinese companies tied to America’s adversaries. It’s time to shut down these dangerous loopholes. washingtonexaminer.com/op-eds/4580021…

To one religious extremist in my inbox. You keep sending me graphic images and saying things like: “Did you forget Hiroshima and Nagasaki?” “You’re just America’s bitch.” No. I didn’t forget. No Japanese person forgets Hiroshima. No Japanese person forgets Nagasaki. But I’m not going to look at some American kid, student, tourist, or friend today and hate them for what happened 80 years ago. That’s not strength. That’s just letting the past rot inside you. Yes, Japan’s postwar occupation is complicated. Yes, there are things people still argue about. But Japan rebuilt. Japan moved forward. And part of that history includes its relationship with America. Remembering the past does not mean living as a prisoner of hatred. Hiroshima and Nagasaki are not props for your rage. They are Japanese memories. Japanese pain. And a warning to the world. I will not let you use our dead to feed your hate.

On This Day — May 25, 1948 They put a bullet in the back of his head. The man they executed that day was Witold Pilecki — the only person in history who voluntarily walked into Auschwitz. In 1940, this Polish cavalry officer deliberately got himself arrested during a Nazi roundup in Warsaw. Using a false identity, he entered hell as prisoner #4859. For two and a half years, Pilecki lived as a starving skeleton in striped rags while secretly building a resistance network inside the camp. He smuggled out the first detailed eyewitness reports of the Nazi death machine to the Allies — gas chambers, selections, medical experiments, and the systematic murder of Jews. While he was there, more than 1,000 Jews per day were being gassed and burned. At its peak in 1944, the killing rate reached more than 6,000 per day. He saw it all. He documented it all. He risked everything so the world would know. In April 1943, Pilecki escaped by overpowering a guard at a bakery outside the wire. He rejoined the fight, battled in the Warsaw Uprising, and later resisted the Soviet occupation of Poland. For his courage, the communist regime tortured him, staged a show trial, and executed him on May 25, 1948. One of the great heroes of the 20th century. Remember his name: Witold Pilecki.

A hush of blue. A whisper of glaze. A sound like wind chimes when the kiln opens, and what meets the eye is that dreamlike “sky blue after rain”: soft and luminous. This is Ru porcelain, treasured in the Song Dynasty (960–1279), is known for its jade-like sky-blue glaze, delicate crackles, and quiet elegance — capturing the Chinese ideal of beauty that is serene, subtle and timeless.

The right to criticise a religion is part of British culture Criticism of Islam is Islamoscepticism, not Islamophobia Phobias are irrational fears, like arachnophobia- the fear of spiders Or in the case of Islam, fear of dogs and pigs Calling scepticism (or criticism) a phobia is a misuse of the English language An infidel's fear of being beheaded is not irrational
Laurence Fox@LozzaFox

We need to remove meaningless words such as “Islamophobia” from our beautiful and ancient language. We need to be as rigorous in mocking the term as the midget dictator @SadiqKhan is about making sure no one can reply to his tweets.

A Tunisian imam in France gave a sermon calling the French flag ‘satanic.’ Within 8 hours, the police showed up at his house and put him on the first plane to Tunisia. He had lived in France for 40 years! Do you agree with France’s decision to deport him?
