Would you read a fantasy novel/series with no dialogue or very little of it? Why or why not? I would. Dialogue pulls a story down for me at times. I’ve ask this question twice with no response. Im curious to know how folks feel about this.

@nerdFamilyDad I like your thinking, but I want a new verb for the noisy expelling of air through the lips when exasperated. Pfft may be the closest. It's time for authors to make up a word for this.

Writing community, I need you. I have long been frustrated by the lack of a single word for exasperated blowing of air through vibrating lips. We are not talking raspberry. We are talking annoyance or defeat. I'm thinking: She piffled or bluffled or huffled or? Over to you folks

@deidrejowen My advice is to take a fork and pierce the yoke in the frying pan. If you're afraid of scratching your pan, you can do this in a bowl beforehand. To make sure that the yoke is broken, whip the fork around in the bowl 50-60 times.

For its “F1” film, Apple sold $40m of sponsorships for the fictitious race team, APXGP (which offset the $200m+ budget). Expesify was title sponsor with sidepod car placement and logo on front of the racing suit. How much did Expensify pay? It didn’t say but main sponsors are typically 25-50% of the total sponsorship take. That puts Expensify’s spend at $10-20m (other brands in the film include IWC, Geico, EA Sports, Mercedes, Tommy Hilfiger). The expense and spend management SaaS product saw sales of $140m in 2024. While the “F1” sponsorship pencils out to 7-14% of sales, Expensify CFO says the commitment was over multiple years but has not…err…expensed the “F1” deal in its filings yet (and when they do, the “F1 expense will be large, but not a big impact on cash flow.”) For comparison sake, here are priciest actual annual F1 sponsorship deals: ▫️Oracle ($90m to Red Bull) ▫️Aramco ($75m to Aston Martin) ▫️Petronas ($70m to Mercedes) Expensify CEO says the “F1” film is “one of the best brand placement opportunities ever” and one main reason they were able to get it: Apple wouldn’t allow brands competing with its own products to bid. The CEO might be right. There are photos everywhere of Brad Pitt repping the logo. Damson Idris wore the race suit to Met Gala. Tens of millions of people will watch the film in theatre and streaming and ask “yo, who dafook is Expensify?” Example: Expensify saw a 4x increase in product sign-ups the day after Met Gala. @kathrynlopez @xan_desanctis Our library has a limit of 25 books per card. The computer would let you check out 25 more, in case the books you've returned haven't been processed. Occasionally, my daughter would use my library card when hers was full.

@xan_desanctis I saw a maybe ten-year-old girl returning about six books to a library return box Sunday. Made my heart sing.

Ventured over to the children’s section of the library this morning and found about ten kids playing computer games. There were no kids reading. I hate to sound crotchety, but I find this very discouraging.
