When Trump sold his DC hotel he made a 100 million in profit…the hotel was one of his more recent properties so why sell it if it was doing so well? I believe Trump was running out of cash and he desperately needed some liquidity and this property had the most upside. Most of Trumps other properties still have large loans attached to them and selling will leave little cash after taxes on the profits are paid. He found lenders willing to refinance him as he had 900 million in debt coming due, but all that did was create even more debt with high interest and push those debt payments back another four years. He’s basically paying off a credit card with another higher interest credit card. If Trump loses his civil case which he will, the net proceeds on his properties will not be a whole lot in relation to his penalty so he will have to sell many properties. Selling those properties means he is running out of possible collateral to take out any more loans when his debt comes due in 2028. Trump will most likely be found guilty and be stripped of his right to do business in New York where a lot of that income pays his debt. Without that income his company will be crushed completely. He will be forced into bankruptcy which will end his only other source of income…his brand…no one will want to put his name on their business going forward. This is why Trump is losing his mental acuity…his whole life’s work is going up in flames and he knows it. His life of greed coming to an end is slowly rotting his brain.
