@blublubluberri That is bad for the business so gives the wrong signal to employees. And no one will dare speak up of the persons lack of skill - that toxic. It also exposes the company to risk if the person says they felt coerced because of the power the person wielded.

People forget that while tweeting impressive things & “building in public” might make them appear smart & awesome, it usually does not provide the best overall career ROI. With the very best companies, they tend to get edged out by someone more competent: youtube.com/watch?v=2ooZlH…

I recently came across data on who we spend our time with over the course of our lives. The insights are simultaneously inspiring and depressing. Here are 6 graphs everyone needs to see:

Google, Microsoft, Adobe, IBM, Palo Alto Networks, and now Twitter run by CEOs who grew up in India. Wonderful to watch the amazing success of Indians in the technology world and a good reminder of the opportunity America offers to immigrants. 🇮🇳🇺🇸 (Congrats, @paraga!)

Us vs. Them: puts their own team above other teams Advocating for a report's promotion when it doesn't calibrate well against peers Ignoring another team's asks for help Antidote: internalize company > team. Your team may love you, but you'll get dagger stares + stalled career.

@HCCvPDAC Every female scientist has psychological scars that are invisible but deep. We were told to move on but the pain never goes away. It is a quiet and powerful movie. It is true. We just want to be a scientist.
