Chose to live in Swindon without a car. Joined a running group, cycled to work, used the buses. Watched the town deteriorate, now have to commute to other towns

@RachelD1892 I tend to remember him better for stealth taxes and PRP, which my employer at the time was very happy to take part in, not so good for me as I was trying to buy a house

This man has got a lot to answer for. Major signed the Maastricht Treaty in 1992 taking the UK into the EU without the consent of the British people. Nothing has got better since then, and he's been sniping away in the background ever since.

@RobertBuckland It hasn’t made any difference, Conservative or Labour, we’ve been losing jobs for years. In the last decade I’ve had to change jobs so many times due to them being outsourced to India, and I’ve contacted you and your predecessors about this but nothing has been done.

@Heidi_Labour @lyft I’d be interested to see how they handle those ridiculous passenger lanes in Bristol. Whoever came up with the idea to introduce them should be sacked. You don’t know how hard it is for a human driver to get into the inside lane after passing one of those

Another vote of confidence in our plans for self-driving vehicles from global leader @Lyft. We’re planning for self-driving cars to carry passengers for the first time from Spring, under our pilot scheme – harnessing this technology safely and responsibly to transform travel.
David Risher@davidrisher

It’s official: @lyft and @Baidu_Inc are bringing AVs to London 🇬🇧 Riders across the city will be the first in the region to experience Baidu’s Apollo Go vehicles. We expect to start testing our initial fleet with dozens of vehicles next year - pending regulatory approval - through the Lyft and Freenow ecosystem, with plans to scale to hundreds from there. (Details ⬇️) - Baidu is the world’s largest AV operator with 17M+ cumulative rideshare rides, 22 cities globally - 240M+ km of autonomous driving, and 140M+ km completed in fully driverless mode - Fully-electric RT6 vehicles, purpose-built for rideshare Our hybrid network - AVs and drivers working together - will serve all of London’s travel needs. We’re working closely with Transport for London regulators and local communities to expand the rideshare market and create more opportunities for everyone. More to come, but can’t wait to see the future of mobility arrive in one of the world’s greatest cities.

@Swindonbinwatch @SaveOasis @swindonadver The “desperately needed houses” are needed in other towns that still have plenty of essential facilities, not a town like Swindon where you will soon have to go on a waiting list for everything

@swindonadver Replacing leisure facilities with 252 more “desperately needed houses” we need sports centres, swimming pools, entertainment, doctors, dentist’s & hospitals. We can’t keep selling off all council owned land for housing on the promise of a replacement that might never materialise

@DanielCllr It’s a real shame World of Water has gone, it was handy having that store nearby, and we’ve bought lots of things from them since they opened. Now it will be yet another trip to Cirencester

@DanielCllr That’s awful, we all have our disagreements, and many people including myself have been very angry with decisions the council have made, but there’s always respect, and if a councillor has been proven to be using offensive language at a resident, then they should resign.

Really sad to see today, Labour councillors attending a counter-protest in which derogatory and devicive language was used towards swindon resident. A protest that Labour itself said should not take place in the location it did. As councillors, it's incumbent on us to be respectful to all, including those we may disagree with. The language I saw used today by many at the protest today has no place in civilized disagreement.

@SaveOasis @MatRix14463751 That is not realistic and we don’t have bits of land sat around just waiting to be offered. We also need to be aware that the planning reasons for the refusal weren’t at all strong and would be very unlikely to survive an appeal.

Pragmatism & joint working needed to get right outcome. Continued lack of transparency & evid from SBC on Swindon's fut need for indoor sports prevents public support of any plans. @jimrobbins /

@jimrobbins 8000 homes planned for Swindon Town Centre, 700 flats planned for the Oasis, UKRC buildings to be turned into flats, more homes to be built on the station car park, but try getting anything done in town, expect to join a long waiting list

@Piranacon I spoke to the police prior to installing them, I was told I had to make sure they didn’t point at my neighbour’s property, and if they did I had to get permission from them

@nhr2546 I bet it has!! Absolutely hate that I’ve had to do it, but in speaking to officers, the person they think is the likely culprit has a history of doing this sort of thing and you know me I’d rather on the side of caution.

@jimrobbins The Heart of Swindon plan is to build 8000 more homes in the town centre, which is going to put more pressure on our local facilities, such as the hospital, employment, shops and leisure
