@ricktycricket @matvelloso Its a problem with Windows standby not the laptop manufacturer.
English

@matvelloso Which “Windows” laptop overheated in someone’s backpack? Because Microsoft doesn’t make every “Windows” PC.
English

Some history:
Back in Windows 8/Windows Phone days, they made many decisions about app restrictions, app store rules, etc. always with the justification "But Apple does it".
Turns out that just because Apple did a thing, it doesn't mean Microsoft could do it too, because Microsoft != Apple (shocking, I know).
For instance, I don't remember Apple laptops overheating on people's backpacks, draining their batteries and leaving users with no power when they needed it.
I'm not saying this particular decision is bad (or good), just that "Apple does it too" is a weak argument when there's precedent for users to be suspicious given the low reliability they have experienced over the years.
Consider that this is the same OS that just announced that it will focus on solving the (way too many) reliability problems it has been facing for so long.
Therefore, a much better argument would be "we can guarantee this won't have side effects or issues, it is fully tested and it is not going to be (yet) another feature that we will have to un-announce in a couple of years because it backfired".

Apple does this and y’all love it. sudo powermetrics --samplers cpu_power and see it yourself. Let windows cook

@chantalshamsock @JordanLkarr And enough people weren't vaccinated that it has caught hold and you've already had 900+ cases this year already 🫡
English

@nico81598 @JordanLkarr measles are back because we imported the third world, and they brought it with them.

At our son’s 2 month checkup today:
Pediatrician: “so unfortunately he will be getting all of his shots today.”
Me: “oh no; we won’t be doing that.”
Pediatrician: “Oh… ok.”
It went surprisingly well BUT I don’t understand how there is no asking- just “he’s going to get them.” What happened to INFORMED CONSENT?! Is that just a made up thing?
And this was in a military hospital- I kept thinking about the pressure on new parents, especially when one spouse is working. This should be a parental-team decision; not an on the spot “this is going to happen” / “backed into a corner” / “pressured” decision.
Military clinics really need to start ASKING parents and GIVING true informed consent.

Soon to be parent question, which vaccines do I say no to?

@tehjizza @BenjaminSolak Dealing with Eagles fans is just that bad.

@Edward63561584 @TwoYelling @theterk An OS should get out of my way, not Bing search, not lose my program installation folder, not deliver me ads, not prompt me to use OneDrive every second day. Why people defend MS is crazy.
English

@TwoYelling @theterk It’s not only that, but most every one of their products is just objectively worse than it was 10 years ago. You cannot name a single feature of Windows 11 that is better than Windows 10. Office is worse in almost every way.

Imagine hating a piece of software so much because of a company, that despite listing all the broken pieces with the alternative solution,
you STILL have the gumption to say that piece of software (which works perfectly fine in 99% of situations) sucks.
I'm all for making Linux better, but geez, this is ridiculous.

Here's the "KEEPING IT REAL" part of the video Truly one has to be damaged in the head to choose linux to play his games on.

@AlbertBreer Is Daniel Jones' success this season a testament to Daboll's development of him, and just impatience within the Giants org, or an indictment, that needed KOC to develop further, and Steichen to build the right offense around?

@CalumetCtyGOP @micsolana @Meme0rable Great point. And to ensure both sides have a say, and not run a vote in secret etc.
English

@micsolana @Meme0rable A quorum is a good way to prevent a majority from incapacitating/arresting opponents.

@JohnMiddlekauff Thought you'd mentioned family a few extra times this week. Congrats!

@JasonJDaniel @TheHerd @colincowherd Colin's been pretty actively pro-CC, anti-WNBA leadership for a long time now. His rant about leaving her out of the Olympic team last year was pretty epic.
English

I love when Colin cowherd decides to steal everybody else’s takes on x over the weekend and then use it as his own to try to show that he’s been on board of the Caitlin Clark effect the whole time when he’s not but most of these old motherfuckers weren’t it’s OK they had to worship the NBA and the WNBA and trying to prove that they were part of the machine because they’re all pretend creative commentators when all they do is reading copy, that’s provided to them by the major sports leagues in written for them to regurgitate
The only one who doesn’t do that is Rome the godfather
Now that Caitlin Clark has made it undeniable that she is the goat they’re free to get on board but they’re just copying the rest of us who have been saying this for three years because when she was doing this in college, it was unprecedented THEN
We knew she could be doing this every night last year, but they rigged it against her and they did their best to assault her every night so she couldn’t play well and she still played great with all the resistance. Now she’s just going to become a monster and punish every team going forward to show them this is a real historic run.
English

"That was the greatest moment in league history."
@colincowherd reacts to Caitlin Clark's performance in her return from injury.

@SadLexify @CHARLIEBOT34 @SpencerAlthouse Look up the number of times Meta/FB has been fined for data breaches. I think the last one was $263m for 29m users info.

@mdawes2 @lara_e_brown @dieworkwear Just saying - His display pic is Elliot Richardson... and his most common example of well dressed is Reagan.
While holding some left wing beliefs, he's been pretty consistent with using examples on both sides of politics.
English

@lara_e_brown @dieworkwear is a lefty fashion & style expert and culture critic. He uses fashion to poke fun at right wingers at times, at others his wit is "equal opportunity."
I'm not sure there is an ideological goal here.
If right wingers just dressed stylishly, this would be moot
English

I find this account fascinating because assertions about the objectivity of beauty are almost always associated with the right.
He's one of the only big posters trying to tie left wing ideology to a correct 'sense of aesthetics'.
derek guy@dieworkwear
I think a lot of people lack a sense of aesthetics when it comes to dress. Their sense of aesthetics is limited to fitness, so they get offended when you say that a fit body doesn't automatically make for a good outfit. Let's unpack this. 🧵
