God made me picky and when I spend 15 minutes adjusting a paragraph’s rag, I feel his pleasure

On this note, I should add that kids sense this, too. The most effective Children's Bible we've used in our home is this one by Catherine Vos. Hardly any pictures at all, and each story is treated with seriousness, without all the "kidisms" that modern Christians think necessary.

If Evangelical Christians treated the Biblical account of Jesus with even a fraction of the reverence that Mormons reserve for their temple ceremonies, there would be no animated depiction of it. Period. Regardless of their view of whether it violates the Second Commandment.

We did try. The plan was to have a Zoom chat with listeners. We did but only one listener showed up.  Even so, the lack of other chatterers did not prevent the co-hosts from talking about what it means to belong to the church @IVMiles traffic.libsyn.com/e3de9cb7-c07a-…

Pyle thought that “by following European models—and accepting the delusion ‘that a wooden shod Dutch fisherman is really more interesting or more beautiful than his Yankee brother’—American artists neglected native subjects and ignored the particularities of the American spirit.”

"But it’s true, his argument is not mainly about the meaning of biblical texts, because the arguments for church establishments over the years have not been mainly about biblical texts." This is demonstrably false, and DeYoung knows it because he tries to handwave away the OT.

@valerie2776 Agree 100%. The Decemberists are cool again for the first time since 2009 and I love it so much.

Starting a thread of musical discoveries that delight. First. This song from the decemberists new album. I haven’t listened to them much since the hazards of love. But the new album is good and this track makes me go cuckoo banana open.spotify.com/track/6udbWHkp…

@maffrj 100% agree. It’s not cool to prefer these versions, but I mostly do.

I like a bit of saxophone. Is there a contemporary track that has a great bit of saxophone on it? How far back to you have to go?🧐
