It’s true. When Agora started doing BE webinars, it changed their entire business overnight. I’ve seen many backend webinars do over 20+ million on a 5-day build and open cart for 7 days. And they keep running them every month, month after month, and every pub / brand. Not like that anymore, but they occasionally still do those types of numbers. Ecomm and consumables really don’t have an equivalent to that kind of backend strategy. It’s unique to Agora. But I see your point. Hope all is well Mark. solid post. Eventually yall will understand most of the 9-10 fig exiting brands aren’t built by marketers. As much as I love marketing and forever will, there are muchhhh greater levers to pull in your biz. Good marketers get stuck at 7,8, maybe even the occasional 9 figs. 10 figs is extremely rare, like Agora rare. And they only did it once. But even Agora understood front end marketing could only get them so far. Marketing makes you rich, economics makes you wealthy. Marketing is goo goo gaa gaa for these brands. Play the bigger game for the bigger money. Or something like that idk

@Rothmus @gioblaze0069 Eric Weinstein wants everyone to think he’s a genius. He’s not. And we’re all better off not paying attention to him at all.

It’s good to look at, but GH’s backend & LTV allows them to play a totally different game from the 98% of brands focusing on ROAS and maximizing AOV and day 0 profit. I don’t know the exact economics, but I’m sure they can afford much higher CPAs and go deep into the red for 90 days or more to finally break even on acquisition. That’s the real game they play differently than everyone else. IMO.

If you want to study direct response done RIGHT… Look at Golden Hippo. They’re one of the best examples out there. Different niches. Same playbook. → Pet supplements → Weight loss → Skincare → Even home air filters And here’s the difference: Instead of AI avatars? Real people. Instead of fake doctors? Real experts. Instead of garbage products? Stuff that actually helps. Add solid customer support… And you start to realize something: It’s not bold claims that piss customers off. They’re used to those. They see them everywhere. Golden Hippo still uses: → Direct response copy → Strong hooks → Big promises But they back it up. Same tactics. Different execution. That’s the edge.
KarmaCola@karmaco1a

Golden hippo is selling home air filters now. Dog food, olive oil, skin creams, pills and now home filters. Can’t wait for their peptides launch.

For sure. It's been one of the biggest niches for a long time. For me, the difference is format. Ecomm is taking over because health products are so well-known and saturated now. They don't need a 40+ min VSL to learn about another supplement. Shorter funnels + lots of volume in ad testing > driving traffic to a one big VSL lander. It's all the same principles, just different flow & format.

VSLs are INSANE. They’re secretly becoming one of our best formats for our clients. So I've created a mini-guide on how you exploit them: - Winning examples - Why they're working - Steps to follow when creating them Want it? Like + comment “VSL” I’ll send it over ASAP.

I think relying on AI for pattern recognition is a bad idea, especially for copywriters who fully don’t understand the principles and concepts themselves. You’re better off breaking down copy on your own. This attempts to skip the hard work of getting good and gaining deeper understanding of copy. Maybe once you’re well into your career. I know I sound like a purist, but I can’t see brining much benefit if you haven’t written and launched numerous VSLs yourself yet.

$0 → $300m+ vsl frameworks broken down into one prompt most people watch winning ads and try to copy the surface top operators deconstruct what’s actually happening underneath this turns any vsl into a full strategic breakdown where the audience sits in awareness what core desire is being tapped into which claims feel strong vs vague what beliefs are built before the CTA you stop guessing why something converts and start seeing the structure behind every decision it’s not inspiration anymore it’s pattern recognition basically a system for writing and improving ads faster rt + comment “deepvsl” and i’ll send the full file (follow for dm)

Easy option is if you offer a Facebook group for current customers. Just post on getting feedback about their experience and pull the responses. Another option is running an email survey to customers and then reformatting the answers on the lander. Another way is reaching out to customers directly on FB messenger and asking for feedback on their experience. Then taking snaps shots of those convos / reviews. The only issue that those fake FB comments usually blind the product and keep it general to pain points and benefits. So you'll have to cherry pick or frame your conversations / posts in such a way to get those types of responses if you want to blind the product too.

It’s predicted that by 2030 data centers across the U.S. will contain 50 million specialized AI agents with genius-level knowledge and capabilities. Equal intelligence levels as Nobel prize winners. As a marketer, copywriter, and generally someone who spends a lot of time thinking about selling products online, I always think about the impact this will have on the DTC industry at large. With that level of technological speed and compute coming in the near future, it’s reasonable to assume that AI will reach parity with the skills of even the most experienced marketers and copywriters and creatives out there. It’s a little freaky to think about. However, there’s a few things that keep me relatively grounded during this time of much uncertainty and rapid change. First, selling products online has never been the domain of intelligent “geniuses.” In fact, success demands the exact opposite. It comes from understanding regular, everyday people. The masses. It’s about human psychology, not engineering or physics or advanced mathematics. Successful marketers and entrepreneurs have their own kind of genius. At least when it comes to ideas, timing, filling unmet needs in unique ways, etc. But I don’t believe that’s the type of “genius” AI is optimizing for (I could be wrong but that’s my guess). Second, I believe we will continue to see guard rails placed on AI when it comes to its use cases in advertising and marketing products. Especially direct response. We are not the ideal users for these tools. And LLMs will continue to be trained to prioritize transparency, honesty, regulatory compliance, factual reporting, etc. It’ll be trained to snuff out anything it deems morally gray (or what tech companies believe, which is probably worse for us). Again, this is just my guess. But you can already see the user agreements getting updated across all of these tools to ward off those who use it for manipulative content. As copywriters and salespeople, that’s exactly what we do. We manipulate emotions, thoughts, perspectives, shift existing beliefs, etc. In other words, I think the “Wild West” days of using AI to generate hard-hitting DR copy and video is coming to an end sooner than later. It’ll continue to be neutered down. Which means the outputs will be less effective. For me, I think the real disruption in our space will come from a different angle entirely. My guess is mass adoption of agents who make buying decisions for humans. When the masses across the U.S. and other major markets decide to outsource their buying decisions to AI, that’s when marketing and copy will truly see a reckoning. But I don’t think the adoption curve will be as quick as many assume.
