I went to Web3 meetup hosted by a major exchange. A big shot in the industry started talking to me. He assumed I knew nothing about blockchain, but that’s besides the point. The conversation quickly turned into him trying to convince me to go home with him. “I’ll take you nice places.”
“Let me cook for you, my partner isn’t home next week.”
“I’ll have the best champagne.”
“I promise you won’t regret it.”
“I’ll spoil you.”
“Whatever you want.” I told him I’m the wrong woman to say these things to. The switch up was instant his ego kicked in and he got so angry that I said no. This is a man with a lot of pull in the industry. A few minutes later, I watched him walk away with another woman. Women need to understand something, a man who approaches you like this does not suddenly respect you more because you said yes. You are not being chosen. You are being tested for access. And once someone sees women as disposable entertainment, there will always be another shiny thing after you. Protect your dignity more than you protect someone powerful’s ego. And honestly, experiences like this just drive me more to become successful in this space on my own terms.
