Dude, if we get actually good mechanized picked tea, it's gonna be a gamechanger. The American south will absolutely wreck global tea production. The labor cost bottleneck has been prohibitive for American tea, and using a cutter to harvest is a big quality loss. An actual leaf-plucker robot would allow capital-deep American farmers to get in the game on a crop which is extremely well-suited to the climate of the southeast-- so much so that its close genetic relative, the camellia flowers, grows wild without assistance!
People's Daily, China@PDChina

A humanoid robot is learning to pick tender tea leaves under the guidance of workers at a West Lake Longjing tea plantation in Hangzhou, east China’s Zhejiang Province. With AI recognition models and algorithms, the robot is capable of identifying and locating leaves that meet harvesting standards.

Betting on Norway to win the FIFA World Cup. Well, it's not because I believe they can win it all, but because I think they will easily win over Iraq in their first match, and the odds will increase from 2,5c to 3,5c (a 40% increase). Meanwhile the odds for a simple victory 1X2 over Iraq is 1,27 (27%). I also think Norway will beat Senegal, which is match number 2, so the winner odds might increase more, but I prefer to sell after the Iraq match instead of speculating more. Norway -1,5 to 1,64 odds could be worth it too, but prefering the World Cup Winner bet instead in case the result will end 1-0. NFA. DYOR.

🇨🇳 Shanghai needed land for underground development. Rather than demolish the warehouse complex sitting on it, engineers moved the entire thing... using 432 robots. Engineering so good it looks like CGI. It isn't.

NEWS: X just kicked out one of its biggest accounts for stealing content. Massimo built a massive following by taking other creators' videos, cutting out the watermark and posting them as his own. Thousands of videos. Same trick every time. Nikita Bier, X's head of product, told him directly: "Today is your last day in the Creator Program."

More or less correct but it’s not just New York. It’s the whole country.
Sabahat Zakariya@sabizak

New York is not a melting pot. It is cultural domination by White and Black Americans, and the only way to assimilate is to identify with one stream or the other. But if you are brown, you will keep making faux pas because you never belong to either. New York is not a brown city. There is barely any cultural production by Indians and Pakistanis there. For Pakistanis, the third option is often some essentialist Muslim identity that reduces you to mosque, hijab, biddah and fitna, and yokes you to Arabs and Africans you don’t even share a language with, and certainly not any ideology with if you’re a serious musician. Even black Americans will dunk on her for privilege while being oblivious to their own. In the lap of empire, they are at least culturally privileged AF. Their culture dominates; they move with the certainty that they belong, they are born with one of the strongest passports in the planet, they don’t have to contort their mouths and tongues to speak in a foreign accent in order to belong. That is not a privilege afforded to the immigrant. She may come from a country where people have servants, but she has also spent decades as a musician. I don’t approve of her appropriating Pakistani singers and lyricists without credit but she did still come up through her own work/grifting, not just her parents’ money. All this dunking on her proves that you may be the burgerest of burgers back home, but in a new country you will still always be TRYING to fit in.

Are you happy about this MAGA? “Lawful” migrants will have to leave their rental units and temporary jobs in America and go back to their home countries, taking their secret customer service chatbot skills with them? Are you happy now? Who is going to live in those rentals and work those jobs. Who?
Alonso Gurmendi@Alonso_GD

The goal is to destroy the lives lawful migrants have built in the US and force them to work abroad for 1-2 years so they will give up on a Green Card altogether

As a Londonder who moved to USA and lived in the Northeast and the west coast, I have noticed a HUGE intelligence gap between the 2 In New England / New York people are much more cultured, self aware and mindful of other people. In California many more self centered, conflict driven people who find it hard to step out of their own worldview. I wonder if university culture plays a part in this.
