Honestly been one of the harder parts of our #shopify app launch. Really hard to hear from folks in the time they test the app. We don't want to sell you anything! Just hear your thoughts. You can speak direct to us devs, or the management team. Whatever you like 😅
Zendra@ZendraApp

If you're thinking about running a membership program on @Shopify, we want to talk to you. You don't even have to use our app. Get in touch and tell us your dreams.

Showing off another great review for one of our Shopify apps, but more importantly, keeping a commitment to a customer: @liam_at_shopify I told them we'd pass their 6-stars feature request on to Shopify's devrel team

@fraxool Pretty much all our reviews come from support interactions as well. It's kinda the only way unless they're massively fanatic about the app. Helping people out makes them more willing for a little reciprocation 😅 especially if it's quick and human support

I’m genuinely wondering how you guys get reviews on your apps without support interactions. I added review banners in-app and merchants sometimes click the 👍 but almost nobody actually leaves a review afterward. I’ve always struggled way more than competitors to get reviews 😬

@matthewsmith Either that or at least make e2e testing possible/pleasant. Cloudflare makes it nigh impossible.

Hot take: Shopify should let you spin up a quick duplicate of your store for testing apps, theme changes, etc. Just enable a bogus gateway like partner test stores.

Claude has been beyond dumb this week. Pretty frustrating end to the week. First time in a while where I'm on the fence if it was any quicker. Thinking it's worth a switch to GPT5.5 and a new harness. Seems like there is little point to brand loyalty when they fluctuate so much

something i've noticed: AI agents create a weird new kind of burnout. esp for young people. a lot of ambitious 22 year olds are going to think the answer is simple: - spin up more agents - ship more code - sleep less - outwork everyone and for a while, it will feel incredible. you can keep multiple agents running, feed them tasks, review outputs, fix mistakes, make decisions, and keep the whole loop moving. the problem is that the work no longer drains you through typing. it drains you through judgment. More attention. More context switching. More verification. More decisions per hour. so instead of 8-10 normal productive hours, you might get 4-5 extremely intense hours before your brain is fully cooked. and you feel numb until you sleep properly and reset some of my friends are already burnt out. they don't say it out loud but i can tell. the agent can keep working 24/7. the human still has a hard limit

What's the deal with sidekick extensions, is that now open for business for app developers? The docs look in place but I thought it was invite only?

@JoviDeC You use linear or sentry or mixpanel? Those are the ones I'd miss. I get that I could switch to APIs, but it's not quite the same as a formatted schema I don't think. And if everyone had to rewrite their own API contracts, that feels a bit crazy than an official sanctioned one?

@nomisp_dev You can easily create a permissions like extension/run it in a sandbox yea. I have honestly never missed MCP's, I've always just used CLI or api from within agents.

I've updated my pi-setup to reduce token usage by implementing rtk and a tool that automatically minimises output from TSC/oxlint/oxfmt/vitest/... github.com/JoviDeCroock/p…

✅ PDX > AMS > ZRH > PMO > ZRH > FRA > SEA > PDX 😮‍💨 It’s been a whirlwind couple of weeks. I’m feeling exhausted and full. More words to come, but for now I’m letting the scope of it all sink in and my mantra for myself is “Think BIGGER”. #CheckoutSummit Last 📷: @roandevries

@TRPage_dev @arvidkahl I think it's the context that matters 😅 if you're in support or on a social platform, seeing a fully robot reply that took no personal touch at all is super annoying. Just pumping out crap after crap. But using it as a tool for your own work and voice, absolutely, crazy not to

@arvidkahl Haha I do have a prompt to have it pull em dashes from copy when it finds it because people will think it’s AI. And to be fair, most of the time it is 🤷 But who cares? It’s equivalent to being accused of using spell check. Why wouldn’t you use the tool?

Accusing people of using AI because of em-dashes is one of the highest-impact trolling you can do. Triggers _everyone_. Age of AI is wild.

@matthewsmith The s-table is especially lightweight compared to the previous IndexTable. There are some patterns they suggest but the bulk of logic is self written. At that point I wonder, would I just be better off with Tanstack Table/shad? Battle tested and pleasure to use, typesafe etc

@matthewsmith I'm in two minds on this one too. I understand the reason for WC's, smaller bundle size is nice and it forces you to use only the API they allow for consistency across Shopify... But I really dislike APIs that replicate primitives (I can just use CSS) and the loss of full control

Rethinking Polaris web components after last night. Out of nowhere, the table header just disappears. No code changes on my end. That happens (or course) to coincide with a bug in my export. I was going to tell the customer, "hey, just use the filters for now". But, guess what? Filters are gone. I can't fix the web component b/c it is a black box. So, I apply a quick fix to move the filter out of the table header at the same time as fixing the export bug. Got it done. Profusely apologized. Crisis somewhat adverted. But my reputation with that customer is now damaged all for a few lines of CSS that I probably could have written myself. In retrospect, I think using a polaris css file with standard HTML components would have been better.

@Zubairmohsin33 @matthewsmith And then the worst is when the reviews start. 4* with no comment, refuse to engage to tell us why. Feels like a cheap shot 😅

@nomisp_dev @matthewsmith It’s sooo hard, nobody has time for a reply let alone a 15 minutes call. And every founder seems to say that don’t build anything until you talk to 10 merchants first 😅 But how?

Liking the sound of pi dev, but man, I really like linear, sentry, mixpanel MCPs (even if context bloat). Are folks just creating their own API cli wrappers? Seems a bit much

@matthewsmith @Zubairmohsin33 Same same. We had session replay to take a guess, but it was always a guess. Following up didn't yield much results, same as Matthew. We still do it anyway, but man, people don't got time for chatting it seems!
