@gilgNYC @Shopify A way to register required app blocks so the merchant is asked at app install time if they're okay to add them (customer account extensions, app theme blocks, and so forth). Merchants can choose not to, but default to install. Would save a lot of clunkyness during onboarding
English

@KatieKeithBarn2 Ya, always felt a bit clunky, even with deep links. I'm not sure I understand why you can't register block intent and then the merchant gets asked if they want to activate them during install. Bit like the Google oauth permissions grant. Just solves for the majority up front
English

One of my least favorite things about Shopify is having to make merchants activate a block or embed in their theme in order for our apps to modify a shop or product page (e.g. to change the price display or add a table of bundles or discounts).
We’ve done lots of work to make this as intuitive as possible and even offer free setup, but requiring merchants to edit their theme just feels wrong to me - especially since this isn’t needed in WordPress and people can activate our plugins’ features via the settings page.
I’ve discussed (ok, ranted about 😅) this to several app founders at DotDev and they all confirmed that this is normal practice in Shopify 🤷🏻♀️. I guess I should take that as reassurance that we're not just missing something.

@TheAwesomeTuvia Had similar user. "I've been coding since 1990 and a certified security systems engineer...."
Ok? That applies to membership platforms how? I guess some folks need another medal or something. The energy investment for those just isn't worth it

@jakabosb @jzazove Same boat. Way more than 15. Through enough legacy pricing decisions and pickier customers, it was sometimes easier to give some custom prices than avoid a sale. I don't think we could use it atm with these limits (not to mention still uncertainty on migrating mantle billing)
English

@jzazove We currently have 50+ custom plans for Plus and enterprise merchants at different price points.
How should we migrate these to App Pricing?
English

As promised, Shopify App Pricing just leveled up today:
• More plans: 8 public / 15 private
• No-charge plan testing in review + dev stores
• App Events now accepts negative + fractional values

@alexanderhupfer Sign up to self host? Or self host deets coming soon? Looks great

@patrickbo11e Same feedback for our intercom messages. We just removed them for now because at our stage, BFS was more important. But ya - would have been useful!
English

@ctrlaltdylan Of course! Just gauging if we should fork or not, as I saw there were some dependabot PRs from late April which would solve the sec updates, and there was a resource picker PR from 3 weeks ago from another contributor without comment. So long as it's still maintained, all good!
English

@nomisp_dev Howdy! Glad you're getting use out of Mock Bridge.
I'm always open to PRs for feature improvements like adding additional APIs.
The sec updates are a bit trickier, there's a lot of supply chain shenanigans going on. This is OSS, I cannot commit to deadlines
English

@ctrlaltdylan been using more of mock bridge lately! Any plans for finishing some of the last shopify APIs (like resource pickers?). We also had some security alerts for peer deps like uuid, and I see the PRs to upgrade in the repo. Any ideas when those might land? 🙏

@SkinnyWaterApps Claude, I want to hop aboard a boat to drink beer, but I have no boat nor beer. Generate a plan so I can get a boat and beer and be able to hop off, make no mistakes...

@fraxool It comes in waves for me. I think I would describe it as the "expectation" is way higher than it ever was previously. Sometimes implied, sometimes imagined. I've still been able to step away, but the feeling coming back some days is "why didn't I do more?" - which is rough

As a solo Shopify developer since 2020, people could easily assume that AI made my work lighter. Ironically, in some ways, it’s been the exact opposite for me.
Over the past few months, I’ve started struggling with sleep for the first time in my life. My brain just doesn’t seem able to switch off anymore. Before the AI era, I could actually disconnect. I could travel, enjoy weekends, step away from work without constantly thinking about the next feature or project.
Now everything moves so fast that I feel permanently “on”. Even on weekends, I end up reopening my laptop, launching Codex or Claude, and finishing “just one more thing”. I genuinely love building with AI and I’m excited by what’s happening right now, but the pace and constant possibilities have changed the way my brain works. Instead of working less, I feel like I’m thinking about work more than ever.
And honestly, it’s exhausting sometimes. I’m more tired than before, my sleep is getting impacted, and I’m realizing how difficult it has become to truly disconnect.
Curious to know if other solo devs or entrepreneurs are feeling the same lately.

Also just saw the shopify blog post for these, they look pretty cool! Especially if you've been hammered by bulk product imports in the past... speaking for a friend....

@mattdkoenig what's the latest with sidekick extensions? We're prepped and ready to go with our membership integrations, but can't really test the actions. Would love to make sure they're good to go for launch?
