@TOP10_algo @Windscribe literally all of those can be fixed with a browser and a vpn lol and i promise "mechanistic determination of user behavior" if it even exists (it probably doesnt) wont hold in any court and probably still encompasses a wide group of people

uh ... who's gonna tell em - ip address - browser fingerprinting - user agent string - canvas fingerprinting and my favorite: - mechanistic determination of user behavior (how slow or fast you type the letter A after the letter P; your average scroll time from a browser button to the address bar, etc. etc)

Windows is spying on you. By design. Microsoft's GDID is a unique, server-assigned identifier for your Windows install. A recent court filing showed Microsoft was able to connect a GDID to IP activity. VPNs don't help. Local accounts don't fix it. So we built deGDID.

@JoshuaK74492 @44latte Interesting, i’ll have to watch this soon. However, for $20 a month, i feel you could just buy a cheap vps and run an open source sandboxing service, like vercels, no? github.com/vercel/sandbox Although i do get if the stability and availability is what you’re paying for.

@TMinus2036 @96hoya @EricaJSandberg 22 runs every 5 minutes, 30 and 28 runs every 10, and the 43 that ends in the parking lot runs every 20. Also, im sure that theyll give them more service if 800 households move in

@96hoya @EricaJSandberg Todd, No real public transit in the area. I work downtown, faster to Bart from Colma than to bus it in from the Marina. When I lived near Balboa Park, it was 21 mins door to door. From Safeway it would take 36 mins just on the bus. Housing near Infrastructure, not vendettas.

Hypocrites in the house. Own a single family home and are complaining that there aren't enough skyscrapers? you're a hypocrite. Live in the 'burbs, and cluck that SF isn't dense enough? you're a hypocrite. Wouldn't want your community bulldozed but are advocating for the bulldozing of other communities? you're a hypocrite.

@JoshuaK74492 @44latte From what im seeing a sandbox is just a vps with more restrictions? Could you not just get sandboxing software on a normal vps

No really, I’m about to be obsessed with the plans for a lap pool on top of the Marina Safeway that definitely, I’m assured, isn’t going to turn into luxury apartments. What will be the pool occupancy limit be? Is that a good use of space?

Why is this photo so maddening? Because it exposes the generational divide in our housing debate. Between those who find a reason to say no - instead of yes - to housing. Over the last year on the Board of Supervisors, I've seen NIMBYs say no to housing because it's not affordable enough (eventhough it could include nearly 100 affordable units), because it will change neighborhood character (even if its just on an empty parking lot), or because it casts a shadow (serious! though I do have a law to fix that) We have a deep affordability crisis right now, and younger generations are calling BS now both on NIMBYs who will find any excuse to oppose housing, as wells as on our city's lack of action. We have been doing just the amount necessary to be in compliance with the law, but not the amount sufficient to actually break ground on new housing. In a 7x7 city, we must build housing wherever we can, faster and bolder, if we are to live up to our values as a progressive San Francisco that can continue to be a home for the immigrants and refugees who seek to move here as much as it can be home for the children and grandchildren who seek to stay.

Hundreds of #SanFrancisco Marina residents turned out this evening for townhall on controversial @Safeway housing plan, which would place what for many is an uncomfortably tall, 22 & 18 story project at the low-slung neighborhood’s waterfront. @sfchronicle

@devahaz This is clearly a post from someone that doesn’t pay tax. Very few people pay only $3000 annually in prop tax. It’s 1.25% at purchase plus 2% increase per year. Most of these homes haven’t been owned since the 1960s and p13 was 70’s. A$4m home purchased in 90’s would owe $45kyear

The controversial SF Marina Safeway redevelopment got an update: The towers got shorter… but the project got bigger. New plans increase the project from 790 to 848 homes while reducing the height and improving efficiency. The site will replace an old (but loved) grocery store + surface parking with: • 848 apartments • 86 affordable homes • A new Safeway • A mixed-use neighborhood on 2.6 acres 📍San Francisco

@lthlnkso I think you're right, but that's because I think there are two scenarios where we would allow distilling another nation's models: 1. It's existential 2. They completely disregard our IP laws Either or both happen to be plausible in this case, but the latter is China's fault.

Does anyone really think, that if Chinese companies get ahead, and go closed source, that American AI companies would not distill their Chinese counterparts? America must win by providing the best AI at the best prices. Legal arguments simply will not work here.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent@SecScottBessent

We support open-source AI and the innovation it unlocks. But open source is not open season on American IP. When PRC firms conduct covert, industrial-scale distillation attacks that cross the line into IP theft, sanctions and Entity List designations will be on the table.
